Before anyone thread-rages, I'm not referring to anything else in Dragon's Dogma but character creation

My Arisen - and her respective pawn - look so incredibly different from others' PC's and pawns. She actually feels like she's my role playing character, created by me. I'm not a modder, so folks like myself benefit from an array of physical feature options, right down to the way our PC stands/slouches.

In DAO and DA2 the bodies were all stock female/stock male. I didn't like it. I don't understand why Dragon Age sells itself as being an immersive, customizable RPG when they shove default heroes with default bodies (bodies you can't change) down our collective throats.

If Bioware is trying to break through the mold and redeem themselves from DA2, I feel they should copycat - if not improve upon - Capcom's character creation system from Dragon's Dogma. In addition to that, they should copycat - if not improve upon - Capcom's weapon/armor/clothing selection from Dragon's Dogma as well.

I'd gladly shave down/give up resources wasted on some of the more superfluous DA gimmicks to place more unique focus on the central figure of the entire game: YOU.

Trista I agree with you the CC in dragons dogma is amazing, I don't see someone else using my role playing character, what really bothers me about dragon age is even an npc could end up looking like the hero it's annoying.

If we're going that far out, let's copy the sims 3 CC instead.

Exactly! Lol. In DAO, when I played a rogue, my pc's body - and at times hair - looked like Leliana's! <_<

I've never played that. Is the CC in Sims 3 pretty good? Hell, they're made by the same parent company, right? They should integrate it into DAI if it's a good CC system.

While you can't alter height,  the amount of customization you get for the face is impressive.  The body isn't that bad either muscle size, muscle definition, fat, breast, and even..body hair sliders/options.  You'd probably be better off looking it up or youtubing it than having me try to describe it.

Does Bioware normally do that?

They made a demo for DA2, and we had that CC thing from DA:O, and as for the sims3 cc I don't think it would fit in a DA game wrong sort of feeling.

I fully support this idea the CC in DD is far more complex and wide then DA it would be nice to see something like that in DAI personally I like to spend hours on my character to get it to look the way I want it too , they have said something that they know how important CC is to us so I hope that they have implemented more features in that department.

Out of curiosity, why do you not think it would fit?  If you're referring to the background,(The mirror, bedroom etc), that's easily changed.

To me it feels to modern even with out the mirror and things, it just screams futureristic game to me.

If they've got folks sitting around with nothing better to do, sure, I've no problem with this. Given how unlikely that is, I'd rather the resources be allocated to other things.

Personally, this falls under the notion of resource optimization. That is, while Dragon's Dogma does indeed have a pretty killer CC (including different heights!) and I like it a lot, character customization is secondary to additional story/quests/spells/skills/etc so I'd only want that sort of thing if it didn't take much in the way of resources to implement.

One of the best RPGs I ever played had no character customization at all...

Well, that's why I specified they should decrease/eliminate superfluous DA gimmicks. I bet if fans put their minds together, there would be significant overlap on what's considered the most superfluous aspects of the Dragon Age games.

I'd shave down some of the cut scenes' lengths. A little bit off each one would appear negligible per scene, but would add up to a good amount of extra resources. Eliminating those very brief/minor fetch quests would help too. Don't think I'd ever miss those. They weren't even that interactive.

I will let you know in a few days when I finish!:D

Seriously, it seems like a fun RPG, open world and all that.  I also think it's come down in price, so I'd give it some thought for sure.

Well, now we're in the realm of speculation and personal preference.  i have no idea how to weigh the resources for a simple fetch quest or two (and I don't recall there being many of those beyond the standard "tutorial" quests which are there for new players) compared to a CC like in Dragon's Dogma.  That's for the project managers and designers to determine.

I would object to the cutscene comment though, simply because those tend to be pretty integral to the quests/storylines.  I value those more than CC options.

But again, personal preferences here.  And don't get me wrong, I really thought DD nailed customization, i spent way too much time playing around during character creation:lol:.

Not happening, also they can't copycat something that runs on a totally different engine

I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't mean to literally copy the CC from a different game, they are expressing a desire for a conceptually similar CC, i.e.  the # of customization and options available to the player...

Edit: Or maybe they do mean that, "copycat" is a strong word.  In which case, someone else can explain IP and engines and what not....
