Dark Souls is great, but sort of easy. Not sure why people say it's hard. Play a Sorcerer and farm 9000 thousand souls per minute, one shotting Sentinels with Soul Spear.

Well the fact that there is a way to go around the obstacle (specific builds, for example, like Sorcerer or Pyromancer with specific stats) does not invalidate the fact that Dark Souls is generally a very though experience and that the entire game it's built around the concept of dying a LOT to reach your goal.

I would not like a Dragon Age with this kind of structure, but Dark Souls also has one of the best melee combat I've ever seen in a fantasy game, at least when it comes to Warriors.

Actually I agree with Bionuts:

Dragon Age: Origins + Nightmare or Dragon's Dogma + Hard Mode.

You will die more times than you would ever die in several playthroughs of Dark Souls.

Unfortunately From Software got a crappy publisher hell-bent on presenting Dark Souls as the hardest game ever even when one of the developers said that was never what they were aiming for. Every time a Dark Souls developer speaks in an interview they mention only challange and rewarding the player for overcoming challenge and not holding their hand too. This "millions of deaths" tripe (seriously if you die more than a million times in DkS you've not only played for innumerable hours but you must be the worst gamer in the world) misrepresents the game and is a foolish statement by both the press and publisher.

At heart Dark Souls is a traditional RPG resurrected into an action-RPG. After Anor Londo you should not only have a fixed build by now but good and upgraded equipment. At this point you may die a few more times and encounter some challanges but it becomes like the RPG's of old where you're just wrecking everything.

The fact good builds makes the game easier does invalidate the claim. I mean if you built the wrong build in any traditional RPG you'd end up getting wrecked all the time but you don't hear anyone saying "Baldur's Gate will eat your heart, spit it out and eat it all over again" do you?

As it goes Dark Souls shines in everything else it does. It doesn't need this "hardest game ever" tripe to sell itself.

And seriously, how many people in here even read the bloody OP? Trista is talking about the CHARACTER CREATION. Not the combat, not the difficulty, not the pawn system, just the character creation. She clarifies that in her first bloody sentence.

Reading comprehension, what is it.

In regards to said OP, yup I would love the CC from Dragon's Dogma. Dragon Age's CC are kinda lousy. Not to mention the lighting is crap, so you think it looks okay in the CC only to be horrid in the actual game. And they should let us see the PC in profile. Also, I wouldn't mind it being able to edit the PC whenever, or even be like Fallout where after the beginning of the game it'll ask if you wanna edit your character.

Unless you are Chuck Norris on acid, it's damn well impossible.

Nah, it just doesn't try to hold your hand. And on subsequent playthroughs, it's insane how quick you'll burn through previously challenging content.

It took me a good 10-15 hours to clear the Bell Gargoyles on my first playthrough. On my second and third? It took a little less than two hours. That was my one disappointment that we didn't get more dlc; Dark Souls' best aspect is that you're constantly exploring the unknown and it's the main reason why I can't wait for Dark Souls 2 so badly.

No, but you're quick to make assumptions.

In truth, there are not many video games that I play. Those that I do, I usually play on the easiest difficulty.

All that considered, Dark Souls is not a difficult game.

Dragon's Dogma on Hard Mode is a difficult game. I gave up in the tutorial section.

Dragon's Dogma was fun, but the setting is generic and dull to look at. Not to mention there's no mounts or fast-travel. But I completely agree with the OP in regards to the CC.

I'm making assumptions about your currently displayed attitude, oh good god no how dare I do so

To continue with the topic- at the very least, there should be a means to change your appearence. The lighting in the Bioware Character Creations are shoddy and what looks fine there looks gross during the actual game. So yeah, a brief trial peroid, or just being able to buy something that can change your PCs appearence at will. It should be that hard to implement.

There is, actually; you have to bury portacrystals in the location you want to go first, then use a transtone (consumable item)

Portacrystals carries over in the NG+...but if you failed to do that on your first run, you're toasted, 'cause in the NG+ portacrystals will cost you both of your lungs

(I so love-hate this game)

Well, there was the Mirror of Transformation that came with the Black Emporium DLC. I've never really understood the aversion to putting this type of thing into the main game, though. Same with respec potions.

Saying that Dark Souls is an easy game, and Sorcerers can one-shot Sentinels, is a statement. One that many would agree on.

The only attitude I see, is of a petulent child.

I am not sure if it was answered, but on PS3 you press r1 + l1.

That selects all of them, not just some of them.

It was answered.  You can't do it.  You can select one or all, but those are your only options.

Pause:

Select all. Give command.
Deselect all, give companion 1 order.
Shift companion, give companion 2 order.

Unpause

Effect: Two companions follows the first command, the other 2 follows the second

or simply if you don't need the others to stop following their ai.

Pause:
Select companion, 1 give order.
Select companion 2, give order.

Unpause.

effect: The two companions does as they are told.

That's the way you get two to follow a command. It takes no more than 10-15 second tops if you are familiar with it.

The insult was very minor, there's no need to cry.

Trista I agree with you the CC in dragons dogma is amazing, I don't see someone else using my role playing character, what really bothers me about dragon age is even an npc could end up looking like the hero it's annoying.

Exactly! Lol. In DAO, when I played a rogue, my pc's body - and at times hair - looked like Leliana's! <_<

At least you did not look like morrigans twin XD

Morrigans Twin you say?

Yes, but the unselected characters will resume being controlled by their AI as soon as they've finished that first command.  The goal here is to prevent that from happening.

The project seems to be going well so far, but I'm still cautious. It looks like it'll play out like the Witcher combat-wise at least, which I can deal with. It's better than DA2's gameplay already.
