Amen.
And, wouldn't so any different body sizes complicate things for armor and such. I

That depends....
Pros:
- Interesting, creative combat mechanics (like climbing up a monster and slashing it in the face)
- Great boss fights
- Good CC
- Decent crafting system
- Good armor and weapon system
Cons:
- Horrible facial animations
- Annoying voice acting
- Pawns are super annoying and sometimes act mentally retarded
- Lackluster Story and storytelling methods
- Static world leading to grinding and farming
- You only get 1 save file per game. So if you want to create a new character without deleting your old one, you'll have to create a new Xbox Live or PSN account.

You can be (very) young, old, thin, fat, super ridiculously good looking, dwarven, elven, gigantos.
Orc-ish.. dark elf...
The character creation is great in Dragons Dogma!
Personally I like being a little elven mage girl. Makes me feel like I were playing a Zelda game if I were actually interested in Zelda games.

Ugh! Tell me about it. When I modded Fenris I started from scratch (as close to generic, featureless mop file as possible) and put hours into recapturing as much of the vanilla model's character as I could - which was admittedly a bit of a crap-shoot, given the, ahem, distinct facial structure of DA2's elves...
So I finally get done, and am all excited to upload my smokin' original half-elf Fenris to the Nexus, and within the first handful of comments somebody remarks on... how much he looks like Cullen and/or Carver. <_<
Damn you, DA2 CC!!!

Shinon's abs alone are reason to play DD. Who could say no to this? Glorious!

On topic: I fully support BioWare improving on their somewhat anemic CC. Being able to change the height and body type of your character is awesome, in addition to all the hair/eyes/face options. I personally love the character edit options in Dragon's Dogma.

It would be nice but Bioware is riding on the "one body to rule them all" train
However, great CC fatally drains resources from the game, and boy does it shows in Dragon's dogma's case

If Bioware is trying to break through the mold and redeem themselves from DA2, I feel they should copycat - if not improve upon - Capcom's character creation system from Dragon's Dogma. In addition to that, they should copycat - if not improve upon - Capcom's weapon/armor/clothing selection from Dragon's Dogma as well.
I'd gladly shave down/give up resources wasted on some of the more superfluous DA gimmicks to place more unique focus on the central figure of the entire game: YOU.
I agree to a certain extent... The character creator in DD was pretty good. The amount of armor available in the game was cool as well.
I just wasn't a big fan of DD's visual style. Most of the armor in the game was... well... ugly.
I would love to see these things improve in DA:I but in the end I can live without them. Would much rather see them focus on giving us the most epic main story line they can, filled with outstanding companions.

But seriously, the character creator is excellent, and height/weight actually affect things, like how much gear you can carry. Every piece of armor fits every body shape and size, and is shown in cutscenes, like it's completely seamless. If your Arisen or your pawn is super short, they can go into certain areas that taller characters can not. Out of the gate, there are already consequences for your choices in that regard.
On a sidenote, I'd agree that the plot is more shallow than typical BioWare fare, but they could learn a thing or two from the enemy types and stragegies to kill them, as well as the combat and weapon options. Combat in DD is top notch, and highly addictive. The Magick Archer class in DD is something I wished Arcane Warrior would have been in DAO.
Oh, and short and longbows actually have strings. Imagine that.

Good fun, great soundtrack, interesting concept of the mainstory.
I think DA:I should take influence off the soundtrack and how it's used ingame. Since DA2 drastically underused their great tracks and the one's they did use fell into the background during combat.
Damnit now I can't stop looking at Shinon's abs!

Voice acting isn't bad or annoying if you ask me. Main characters like the Duke, Quina, The Dragon and others are well acted if you ask me. It's some of the minor quest NPC's that aren't but they are no where near as bad as the voice acting in games like Risen and Two Worlds 1!
Static world? That implies it doesn't move or change which is untrue. Not only do you get enemies, bosses and animals moving about but the wind mechanic ensures the world feels lively as trees and other elements move in the wind not to mention how the world changes over the course of the story.
However I agree about the story. It only got really interesting towards the end but gameplay wise this game is matched only by Dark Souls (at least on hard mode) and the new expansion actually gives you an interesting new land to explore (where every nook and cranny is actually worth exploring unlike in the main game) with random monster encounters.
What I hope BioWare do take from the Dragon's Dogma CC is scars. I'm guessing they already have seeing as Varric and Cassandra have them in the trailer. I'm guessing that means we'll be able to finally give our warrior scars. I'd like to see better looking tattoos as well. I doubt they'll produce body slider options but it'll be good to see some preset body types (which they have in SWTOR if I'm not mistaken).

Trista I agree with you the CC in dragons dogma is amazing, I don't see someone else using my role playing character, what really bothers me about dragon age is even an npc could end up looking like the hero it's annoying.
Exactly! Lol. In DAO, when I played a rogue, my pc's body - and at times hair - looked like Leliana's! <_<
Yeah, I made my last female Warden bald (well, shaved head) just so that she would stand out from the other NPCs - which fortunately did end up working pretty well, though. I tend to make all my PCs a little extreme looking just so that they feel unique.
But if people are having to go to such lengths just because they are worried about their PC not being distinctive enough in appearance then it shows there is definitely a lot of room for improvement in DA's CC.
Also, better customisation in the apparel for the PC is another thing DA could take a cue from DD with. Hawke didn't have anything that great to wear until near the end of DA2, and anything else that looked good tended to get sold off after not much use since the armor ratings weren't very good for long.

Dragon's Dogma Character Creation is pretty stellar. More games should have one that rebust, not just Bioware.

Absolutely. If you do go for it, get Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. It's the main game + the expansion and it's $40.

I think you're just replying to the thread title. (Unless this was in reply to another bsn user asking about DD.)

Technically, they didn't for DA II. For some unknowable reason the demo only allowed you to use one of the default Hawkes, until someone did a bit of hacking/modding.
