It does some things really well such as the combat/fun bosses but it is extremely tedious since you have to run everywhere and the story/plot is horribad at times.

I don't think you actually read my post.

I think you're just replying to the thread title. (Unless this was in reply to another bsn user asking about DD.)

In the former's case - go read the OP.

I read the OP. Zazzerka asked what people thought about DD and I was responding to that. I'd say you might want to read the posts in your own thread but I wouldn't want to get too snarky.

Trista I agree with you the CC in dragons dogma is amazing, I don't see someone else using my role playing character, what really bothers me about dragon age is even an npc could end up looking like the hero it's annoying.

i don't know Dragon's Dogma (had to look that up on wikipedia ^^) because i don't own any gaming consoles (i even lack the Big-Flatscreen-TV for those (i still have an old-CRT-TV that used to belong to my parents!))

but:

I agree with the thought of having a very good character creator that let's you realy creat "your" character (enough options that if you it's almost impossible to get the same character if someone else goes about making their PC)

but i want something comming along with that:

I want that you can't design a character that looks like a science experiment (cloning?) gone horribly wrong (and i managed that with ME's character design-tool because i couldn't zoom/rotate the character like i wanted (the rotating felt "clunky" and in the first video sequence my character looked horrible *wants to rage and puke at the same time*!)

so please improve that, too!

greetings LAX

Just use mods. That way you have even more freedom with your characters.

I know you're half kidding, but the truth is - I wonder if those Dragon Age toolkits perpetuate laziness on the devs' parts.

"Eh, they (people who game on computers, not the console gamers) can just mod it!"

Absolutely.  If you do go for it, get Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.  It's the main game + the expansion and it's $40.

And you get the absolutely amazing Japanese voices, which blow the crappy English voices out of the water.

I play DD and share pawns with some of the amazing users here, and let me tell you. We have created so many different types of and different LOOKING people. So far I've seen a hot red head archer type (the infamous Shinon), a snarky-looking freckled girl, a beautiful and poised long-haired mage, a hulking dark-haired and burly sorcerer, a clever looking archer with slicked back blond hair, and my own beauitful mage fellow and my gorgeous Amazonian fighter, Arya.... and I am even leaving some people out here. SO many memoriable and unique looking characters.

Most of them are close to the same height and weight!!!! Only one person made a really tall pawn. All the girls are about the same size, same with the guys (my mages is lacking in muscle tone, but would muscle tone affect armor THAT MUCH?) The point I'm trying to make, is that if you take out the height slider and the weight slider, DD's CC is still FANTASTIC and AMAZING.

A lot of people complain that it would take up too many resources and make cut scenes impossible for DA to have a height and weight slider. So? Then don't! It's not necessary.

I got DD two days ago. Whole reason I got it is because so many people here rave about the CC. Absolutely in love. Reminds me of an advanced WKC CC, except in DD you actually SEE your character in scenes. The story is meh so farrr. But the battles are amazing. As soon as I saw an extra pawn pick up my fainted pawn and run from an Ogre, I was sold. So yea, thanks BSN for the reccomendation lol. Bioware, make the CC happen. xP

In reply to motomotogirl...

It's not just body sliders that affect cinematics. My last Hawke had a problem that whenever she spoke the black mesh at the bottom of her teeth protruded through her bottom lip. I spent quite a while in the Mirror of Transformation trying to fix it while still keeping her recognisable, but the problem still occurred occasionally.

The point is that even if you can only alter a character's face and not their body in the CC, having loads of sliders can still create problems in cinematics.

So I agree we need a much improved CC, even if it just includes facial variables, but that goes hand in hand with Bioware making sure that faces work properly when animated.

Another game with a great character creator is Saints Row the Third. The whole time I played it, I kept thinking that I wished other game developers had something that good.

Dragon's Dogma is still my favorite in that regard, though...except I wish you could choose taunts like in SR3. And streak. But I digress.

I was really disappointed with Dragon's Dogma's storyline and relationship mechanics (which are worse than the Fable franchise), but I really loved their character creation system above all the other things in the game. Also, the boss fights were a lot of fun.

(Planning on turning in DD for a copy of another game since I highly doubt I'll be going for another playthrough.)

I agree OP. I would like to make either a big beefy Guts from Berserk looking guy or a lean man. Dragon's dogma was a crap game but the CC and combat were actually the best features about it. I loved being able to grab and jump on an enemy. Climbing on top of a large enemy was awesome, it felt like it was a true fight with that type of creature instead of swiping at the feet until it dies.

yes, DD did not have the depth of Dragon age, or even Uncharted, but I do think it was waaaay better than Fable 2 and 2.I did have fun playing DD . The character creator was great and I do hope DAI follows suit.

Oh, yes!

I created this giant handsome man (about 6 '10) with an 8 pack, and a face like Tom Cruise.

I also created this little cute 5'3 blonde haired rogue. With shorts like Lara Croft, a belt, and some fitting shirts.

The DD game lets you create dwarves, giants, elves, hermits, witches, etc.

My favwit :)

That depends....

Pros:
- Interesting, creative combat mechanics (like climbing up a monster and slashing it in the face)

- Great boss fights

- Good CC

- Decent crafting system

- Good armor and weapon system

Cons:
- Horrible facial animations

- Annoying voice acting

- Pawns are super annoying and sometimes act mentally retarded

- Lackluster Story and storytelling methods

- Static world leading to grinding and farming

- You only get 1 save file per game.  So if you want to create a new character without deleting your old one, you'll have to create a new Xbox Live or PSN account.

(bolded part) WTF, is that true.

^ Yes, but if you want to start anew, you can recreate everything of your character (name, looks, etc.), and do NG+.

I absolutely love the DD CC. I wanted to make my Arisen a red haired, freckly, short, tom boy style character and I was able to. I just love the customization.

Although the story is not the best (although the Bitterblack Isle DLC is interesting), the combat is great, it can be difficult at times and I love being able to use other BSN'rs pawns.

Oh, and Shinon's abs are amazing!

I think they plan to get better with the next DD game they are thinking about making DD2, I'm looking forward to see Da:I CC, if it's the same as the other games I will be rather niffed at it, but at least Bioware games have better story

I approve. I utterly adored the CC in Dragon's Dogma. First I had my normal chick with her tiny old man wizard side-kick then I had my skinny Ranger with his gigantic Amazon body guard. I loved the variants and would adore having such customization skills in DAI

Yes, but you don't have to create a new account to create a new character. It just has to be a different device, so using the cloud or a thumb drive(s) are options.

Or you can go to the hair dressers in the capital to make a new char, also you can do it via main menu after game +

This is the point of the game - all your decisions matter and cannot be undone. Technically you can restart your game at your last save spot which can be anywhere you last saved - or anywhere it autosaved. Or you can restart the game at your last checkpoint which is the last Inn you slept at. So there are two options. Not having multi save files makes the game more challenging. Capcom wanted a linear play-through. The thing is, after you beat the game, you get to start all over from the beginning with your same hero - except he/she retains their stats/strength/loot/abilities/high level - and everything else on the map is back to being low level, so it's like you become immortal.

Also with new game plus, there's a character/pawn edit option at the title screen. You can change absolutely everything you want about your character and/or pawn as many times as you want before loading your game. And you can do that before every play-through, I'm saying. The character edit option never goes away. If you want red hair on mondays, and neon green hairs on fridays - you can do that with new game plus.

Unsure if you can change the gender though - I never tried.

If you haven't beaten the game yet, you can still edit your main character and pawn in the main city at a hairdresser for a cost in gold coins. The game practically throws money at you so it's not a big deal. There are lots of motivators, however, for beating the main game and starting over with new game plus.

Also, throughout the game (even a brand new game) you can change your vocation/class as frequently as you wish. You can be anything you want. Your pawn can do the same, should you choose - though there are a few high level classes that only your main character (not pawns) has the privilege of being.

Dragon's Dogma is a challenging game. I wouldn't say it's hard as hell like Dark Souls or anything but there are definitely more challenges in DD than in most rpg's. It does not hold your hand. And the "easy mode" option just means it's slightly hard, rather than incredibly hard. There technically is no easy mode, lol (unless you're playing the new game plus and you're super high level/invincible).

I understand. I was mad about not having multiple save files at the beginning too. But then I realized that was the point of the game - no back pedaling. It's supposed to be hard.

I agree. In DD you can make a 12 year old girl, or a 70 year old man, or a 30 year old woman... To anything you want really. You can adjust breast size, muscle size, heigh, weight (pole skinny to fat as a house), everything. You name it, you can adjust it. Look at this broad range of character that you KNOW someone created from scratch-

No DA character's will ever look as different as every one of the ones above. DD set a new standard.
