I agree. In DD you can make a 12 year old girl, or a 70 year old man, or a 30 year old woman... To anything you want really. You can adjust breast size, muscle size, heigh, weight (pole skinny to fat as a house), everything. You name it, you can adjust it. Look at this broad range of character that you KNOW someone created from scratch-

No DA character's will ever look as different as every one of the ones above. DD set a new standard.

^^^^ So much this. If Bioware wants to make FAT cash off DAI, they will create a hybrid game of THIS ^^^^^^ customizability coupled with Bioware's trademarked storytelling/companion and LI system.

MAKE. IT. HAPPEN. Bioware, seriously - you would be rich.

P.s.if resources are limited then they need to extend them. These next gen consoles can handle more resources - easy. Isn't that the whole point of next gen? If bioware needs extra money, then hell...extend the release date. Save more revenue. I'd happily wait longer for something better. I think most would agree.

Hell, if Bioware threw up a kick starter to add this level of customization to DAI, I would gladly contribute, as would most of the fans.

By the way, 3 of those pics are mine and have characters I created in them. I'll leave it up to others to try to guess which.

You could also make a Gollum, as @happydaiz posted on the DD thread. I haven't seen an Aragorn yet, but I'm sure someone has done it.

And of course, wearing matching armor pieces is always so much fun too. :innocent: My Arisen just loves it.

It's the Cursed King's Belt. It's the only armor piece I know of that lets males have a bare chest (without those ghastly wraps!) For a female, it adds a bra-like thing as you can see on my character. I prefer it on male characters. ;)

Mods gave me much better cc option than dev can put in original games. So tbh, I don't care much about it. I'd rather they spent those extra time and resource on other important things like story, characters, or gameplay.

Anyway, I do hope they copy sth from Dragon's Dogma though: Their boss fights. DD itself is pretty much an average game at best (Imo, because of so many annoying problems) but there's one thing they did extremely good, and it is boss fight. Very engaging, interesting, and challenging. Not just stand and smack (thin air????) but you can actually climb on bosses (you can control it, not just some autoplay / cutscene), and hit it over the head.. etc... It was pretty awesome, and I hope they could put that in DA games.

Doesn't seem like it has been mentioned in this thread: The character creator of EVE Online is the one I want.

Honestly, the devs should (if they already have not) sit down and play a bunch of the suggested games with superior CC, just to get an idea of what fans want in that department. Maybe they should move things around to open up new resources for this. I mean... why else prolong the game until Fall 2014? That's a long time, you'd think game quality might increase just a bit for putting it off by a year. If they put it off longer, even better.

I know I'm being prescriptive to the devs, here. I know. And I know I'm the billionth person on the BSN to do so. But still - I really really want better character creation without the use of mods. I don't know how to mod and I play on a console. I don't see why modding has to be a requirement for CC to be much better than it was in the last two games. You know? :D

On another note:

+ More skin complexions. You either have young or down-right old in DA. The ones in between hardly show any difference. Not all skin is perfect. You can still look young but have the skin of someone who has exprienced a lot of stress and fighting.

+ More tattoos. Give us some asymmetrical ones. The human only had one of these and it was the one that looked like the Grey Warden's one in the Sacred Ashes trailer.

+Scars. Probably already implemented. I don't see the giving companions scars (Varric and Cassandra) and not allowing the PC to have them.

+Heterochromia iridum. You know two eyes each with a different color. Another thing DD allowed. Also allow us to create a blind eye or a scar eyed. Even Skyrim had that for God's sake. Again I'm not fan of Skyrim but that's another thing I'll give it (asides from the art-style) you can at least create a character who looks like he's seen battle with tattoos and scars.

I so totally agree. And it really makes me mad because in the actual game populations of people (city dwellers, tribes, etc.) there does seem to be as nice variation of body types (except for overweight human women for some reason). We need to able to change our body type, way more hair length options (read LONG) and hair colours.

What I've got to say, is that I've spent several times more time in Dragon's Dogma than I did in both DAO and DA2, including all DAO expansions.
I have to say, even though lore of Dragon's Dogma is just plain amazing the actual main story up until the very end is very meh. Mainly because your character can't influence any outcomes ever.

That reminds me, I gotta go back to Dogma. Yes, my arisen lady and pawn are both maxed out at lvl 200 with all vocations and yes all their gear is goldenforged... But I just want to kill that smug Daimon a couple more times. Now that it takes 5 seconds...

Anyway, strongly agree on character creation. In DD you can create any character. Of course, 90% of characters ever created are beautiful young women, but you can actually make any kind of character, any gender, old, very old, young, fat, hunched, disproportioned like a gorilla, full freedom.

I love my pawn - he's a tall, lanky, effeminate, albino elf-looking dude.

And here's my main character, un-creatively named after myself:

DA needs to have this much variation in character creation and fashion/armor.

It's not a resource question. It's a question of whether Frostbite can ever actually have accessible tools to create characters like this. U3 didn't, and that's why the ME models looked like trash compared to the custom models created for party and important NPCs.

Video games are to adults what barbie is to little girls.

Developers need to remember this. We enjoy creating the characters, dressing them up, etc. It's all just grown up barbie. Especially RPGs
