Can you? Because I hate for it to be left open like that. I mean, every other Origin I recall playing as had Alistair know about what happened to the Warden that got them recruited, whereas he apparently has no clue about what happened to the City Elf. Do you get to explain yourself to any of your companions later on? It would suck if you can't... which I'm assuming is the case.

On the other hand, that's what headcanon is for. :-)

I'm afraid not. I'm 95% sure you don't get a specific dialogue about your backstory. At least, I've never seen one, and I know the game pretty damn well.

Yay headcanon! XD

We know several conversations with Morrigan were deleted.
So check a wiki or youtube.

For some reason, it bothers me that Shianni and Cyrion insist you stay for dinner after Unrest in the Alienage, but you don't get to do it. Even if you say "yes" to Shianni weaseling an extra bottle of wine from Alarith and your father insist you eat something ("You're all skin-and-bones! Don't they feed you Grey Wardens?"), you have no choice but to leave empty-bellied. I know it would take too many resources to animate, but still... makes it harder to do headcanon when you have to manually walk your character out.
Also, speaking of leaving things hanging, if you saved Soris from being arrested in the Origin and try to talk to him after completing Unrest, he sounds so bitter and resentful toward you. Something like, "Once again, you're the big hero. It must be nice winning all the time." His tone implies that he highly resents you for getting the glory while he got the blame for the rescue you both did at the wedding. I can't say I blame him, yet we don't have the option to try to patch things up with him. ='( And considering a cut epilogue slide reveals that he eventually marries a human and leaves the alienage, it sounds like he voluntarily distances himself from his family, and the Warden. Makes me sad.)

But yeah, when Valora was blaming me, it was a totally different view of her. She's so nice if you save Soris, but this time she was just blaming me and I defended myself, she conceded, then said, "Shianni's up now - if you even care." I was just like, "Biiiitch, I shouldn't have even bothered saving your ass." I can understand Soris's anger, but he needs to realize that you had no way of knowing that Duncan would save you from prison and so that you could just take the blame entirely. Nor could you guess that Elva would rat you out. Yeah, it was selfish, but it was human. I didn't exactly see Soris stepping up to take the blame.

I took all the blame for what happened with Vaughn and so Soris didn't go to prison. When I saw Soris later on during Unrest at the Alienage, I don't think he seemed bitter or anything. He just was probably stressed/upset that Valora was taken away. Unless you're talking about Soris getting arrested and you busting him out later, which I've yet to do. I'm doing a playthrough with that, but I haven't gotten to that part yet.
I know, I took all the blame too. I'm talking about what Soris says after Unrest in the Alienage is over. During it, yeah, when you see him again, he sounds very tired and beaten down, but also genuinely happy to see you. ("It's great to see you again, Cousin.") Afterwards, if you click on him, he has a surprisingly
Again, I can't say I fully blame him. From his perspective, you both rescued the women and got hailed as heroes, but in your absence he gets blamed and punished by the alienage for the purge that follows. Then you return home, save everyone within a few hours, clear your name and get hailed as a hero again while he remains a widower and pariah, unappreciated and forgotten. From his perspective, you probably get all the perks of heroism while he gets the rags. Even if he knows logically that it's wrong or isn't your fault, it's hard not to bitter or resentful about that.
I don't know. In my headcanon, I always thought of Soris and my CE as being close, and it's clear he cares about you based on the way he greets you during Unrest, and I just always think it's so tragic when two people who care about each other very deeply are torn apart by that invisible wall of hard feelings and nothing you say or do can fully repair it. Or, at least, nothing you do now.
As I said, his tone just sounded so upset and I was so sad that I could only click on him, not engage him in conversation or try to patch things up. I guess I can pretend they eventually worked things out, but at the time? It's just so sad leaving things hanging like that.
I don't know, I think it might have something to do with the fact that she cares about Soris. For right or wrong, she feels very happy when he's safe and free, and very upset when he's tortured and imprisoned for a year. It's wrong to put that pressure on you, but the fact is Soris's fate depends on what you say (or don't say) to the guards and she knows it, and she reacts accordingly. Bottom line is, I'd like to think she responds that way because she cares about him and not because she's just a **** in sheep's clothing. But yeah, when Valora was blaming me, it was a totally different view of her. She's so nice if you save Soris, but this time she was just blaming me and I defended myself, she conceded, then said, "Shianni's up now - if you even care." Indeed, I could say the same about his reaction. It isn't right or fair to put that much pressure on you and then blame you when things don't go well for them, but I think it's a very human reaction and probably not one he (or Valora) can help.I can understand Soris's anger, but he needs to realize that you had no way of knowing that Duncan would save you from prison and so that you could just take the blame entirely. Nor could you guess that Elva would rat you out. Yeah, it was selfish, but it was human. I didn't exactly see Soris stepping up to take the blame.
EDIT: I must admit, I've only ever taken full blame for the rescue, so I haven't experienced firsthand how they react if you give the guard his name or stay quiet so Elva can rat you out. So, if I'm wrong about this, I apologize.

What? When? You never see his wife (Velanna) again, and I don't recall Soris blaming you for anything, though he does resent you for getting to be 'the big hero' while he either languishes in jail or becomes a scapegoat for the purge.

Man, now I want to see an AU where Velanna is at the CE's wedding. Vaughan would end up crushed amidst the vhenadahl's roots and the purge would include templars...

Bonus points if he finds Velanna attractive. "You expect me to submit to what!?"
"I expect you to submit to the will of why is that tree walking?"

You see her in your house when you're saying goodbye to everyone in the alienage (if you did), she gets all mad and blames you.
Soris's scene when you meet him in prison seems to play out exactly as if you had put him there. (I guess, never did a playthrough with that route) He even says that you specifically gave his name to the guards and there's no mention of Elva at all.

His betrothed's name is Valora, if I'm not mistaken. Velanna is the (slightly batty) Dalish mage from Awakening.

Interesting. I never had that dialogue with him after talking to him after the quest. Might be because I play on the XBox, and I already know there are some glitches with Soris's dialogue after Unrest In the Alienage. Maybe that's why I never got it. Or do you have to go back and report to Eamon first before getting the dialogue?
It dissapoints me to hear that Soris would sound so upset, since I also always thought of them as being close, since they're around the same age (I believe Shianni wasn't getting married because she was younger than them?) and whatnot, so to hear that Soris would be so resentful is sad.

I didn't mention Soris or anybody else.
