That would be game-over for me buying Bioware games.

I actually liked most of DA2 but ME3 was an epic train-crash disaster (in more ways than just the ending for me) and if DA:I is in the same league I don't think I'd trust them again and certainly never 'follow' or get hyped for another of their games before a lot of reviews came in.

My question is based on Bioware's track record. If DA: I has some controversy which the fans universally despise like a Starchild, would you still support Bioware? I already dropped this series after the failure that was DA2 but I was wondering what the rest of you that still stay with this series would think

If they come with another:
1) God in the machine
2) a stupid Ghost talking nonsense,
3) 1,2,3 you lose!  artistic integrity!......
then i am done, if I buy their game is because they are very cheap and there is nothing new to play.

We are very different because I liked Dragon Age 2 and liked it a lot.

There are a few  thing that I didn't enjoy but it has many improvement over Dragon Age: Origins, with the sole exception of the ending (the hole act3.. what. a .piece. of.  ...).

The combat is better, the characters are better, the graphics are better, the gear and stats are better, and I like that Hawke is actually voice-acted.

Also in Da:O you have to babysit every companion. Tell them what they want to hear otherwise they'll hate you, fight you and leave.
In DA2 I made Isabella change her personality a bit, now she's not a ????? anymore. Yes you can do that in real life and in good games.

The story is very inteligent, makes you think about everything.
hell! even today people still discuss of who they'll be choosing and why! rofl

The combat in da2 is faster and fun and i  totally  love to play as mage or rogue in da2.=]

I really hope so. Just with all those next-gen standards, please. Technically, ME Trilogy is already outdated.

I hope that BW won't start a hypetrain (like it happened with ME3), cause in the end it'll be going too fast even for creators to stop. And already they are promising much.

If you are worried about that like me and many others are, then why not just wait until the game comes out and see if it is worth it. Don't preorder, not even for whatever crap bonuses they offer, just wait and see if the game is worth getting.

That's what I will do, I don't want to be tricked into buying something that isn't what I wanted.

lets do a check list:

1-epic final battle with bosses and then a major boss fight
2-no overhearing quests and scanning "towns" (they can have a few of course)
3-no auto dialog

DA:I is now a successes

If I hear people I know and respect saying that the end of DA:I is akin to the end of ME3, I shall do what I should have done for the latter game, i.e. play until almost the very end, turn it off, and make up my own ending. That said, they're unlikely to finish the game before I do, so their views will probably not come into play. I will be buying DA:I on release and will probably finish it within the week. Thus far the Dragon Age team has done nothing worthy of making me avoid buying DA:I on release or playing the ending. If they do mess that game up, though (unlikely as I find it, but I never expected to be in that position with ME3), I shall be a bit more reserved with the next one (as I intend to be with the next Mass Effect game).

At least they aim to do something with auto-dialogue instead of letting it take over your character. Auto dialogue will be in DAI but in better form I hope.

It's the speculation they are after.

Actually, I'll bet that the main things Bio takes away from ME3 is that their fanbase can't handle ambiguity, and needs to have things spelled out rather than implied.

.  That may be what they take away, but it is false.  We just dont like railroaded forced grimdark that makes no narrative or thematic sense.

Perfectly said.

@OP:
If they did it right, I would accept it.

Suppose we get a final choice including the following options:

(1) Strengthen the Veil so that nobody can use magic anymore. There are no more demons and spirits who can cross from the Fade, and the civilizations of Thedas are safe.
(2) Destroy the Veil so that everyone gets magical abilities. Demons and spirits are free to roam the world, but now everyone has the means to deal with them. The civilizations of Thedas are transformed.

It's possible that I wouldn't exactly like those options since they transformed a world I have come to like into something very different, but these options would make perfect sense in the context of what we know about the plot. Also, my reaction would depend on how these choices are implemented. Depending on what the story reveals, most likely I wouldn't mind a choice presented by, say, Flemeth. The equivalent of the Catalyst would be a collective consciousness made up from the conjoined minds of all demons in the Fade. I can't see that coming.

I decided to screenshot this, because I can see this happening.
And it'll be good to trot it out to the few gamers who will try to argue that
these options are 'fantastic' and' awesome' due to the simplistic idiocy
of it all.

Yeah, they aim to remove actual choice from the player. Choose what the PC
says? Get the hell out of here! Only actual Role Players would want that!

Auto-dialogue is a bad, BAD mechanic and only wrests more control away
from the player. Do not want.

I hate it too, at least in Mass Effect. I've never complained or felt like auto-dialogue was much of a problem in DA because it did carry some variation based on personality and choices made before. Auto-dialogue will be in DA regardless of our opinion of it. May as well try to make it work and do something creative with it instead of having it deprive players of choices and assume a completely different character contrary to the one one I wanted to craft.

It seems impossible DA:I could be the ME3 of Dragon age, because we already had the ME3 of Dragon age with DA2. Hopefully they have learned their lesson.

If the game disappoints me as much as DA2 did, I expect I shall be done with the DA series yes. I am pre ordering DA:I out of brand loyalty because of how much I enjoyed DA:O. Two chances is all they get, however.

Despite that, from what I've seen so far, I am actually quite hopeful that DA:I will mark the DA series doing another 180 and returning to games of Origins' (superior) calibre.

It won't be. They plan at least two more games, and nothing too earthshakingly different can happen as a final choice.

The thing is, ME3s ending in DAI wouldn't be as stupid in ME, because things like an inevitable humans/elves vs. demons and mages vs. templars conflict is totally foresehadowed, explained, and illustrated multiple times to not really have a clean solution.

I really love ME3, but I do hope the DA team learns from Mass Effects mistakes and properly foreshadows their ending and provides us with sufficient closure.

I liked ME3. I also kind of liked DA2. I even liked the DLC. I guess I'm easily pleased.

I just didn't like the reused environments in DA2. I seriously forgot which quests I was doing a few times, especially those in identical areas. They weren't memorable at all. I mean I can understand the sewers in Darktown looking similar. But a cave on the beach... looking identical to the cave on Sundermount. Uh sure. Totally.

As long as they don't force me to use head canon to tie any loose ends I'll be happy. If I want interpretive pieces that are stupidly broad and speculative I'll go to an art gallery where that sort of thing is acceptable. I play games for escapism. Not to be slammed with a reminder that life sucks. So long as its like Dragon age: Origins where people can pick what they want from dark and bittersweet to yay! We won! I'll be content. So if DA: I ends up like Mass Effect 3 I'll be upset to say the least.
