The mechanic is fine. It's the actual textures that look awful, and the fact that it makes no sense to see veins on a third person camera just takes you out of the moment.

I think the veins being obvious and breaking immersion was the point. It's there to show you that you need to look at your health bar because you've been ignoring it in favor of story immersion.

Look at it this way: more incentive to play smart and never get your health diminished.

Dont' suck, and you won't see it at all or very often. Easy.

I don't see it as game breaking and don't get hurt too bad and you should not see it often.

I like it, a little reminder to seek cover and not be a ******.

I don't know about the rest of you, but i don't plan on getting that close to death to even care what they look like

Ack, I just hate these "Don't get low health then" suggestions. I play at a difficulty that makes me reach that state often. If I do not reach that state often, I raise the difficulty. The fun in a game is challenge, not breezing through it!

Then mod it away, the game is Gold, this won't change so complaining about it for ME2 is moot, maybe they will change it for ME3 but or now the issue is moot.

So make it a challenge to never get your health low enough to see the graphic.

I know right, it's like someone came to their house and killed their dog/cat/whatever precious thing the way they complain.

I agree.  Bring on the red veins of death, I am not threatened.

think of it this way: You'll use cover a lot more and play more tactically to avoid seeing those obnoxious veins that make modern warfare's damage indicator look subtle.

So, for people in the know, can things like TexMod actually be used to replace the red vein effect, despite the fact that it seems to be an animated effect rather than a flat texture?

By the Maker, the red veins issue AGAIN...look, they're not pretty, but the game has gone gold so I'm afraid you must learn to accept it at this point - at least until someone brilliant somehow creates a mod to get rid of them that is (if that's possible anyway). Just...use your cover wisely - heh.

I don't mind it, at least it's not as bad as the blood jelly that floods your screen in modern warfare 2.

Uck, agreed completely.

I just saw these in the recent N7 mission gameplay video and I do have to agree that it was one of the poorest design choices I think I've seen in recent times. Simply does NOT match the rest of the game's art style at all.

I'll have to see it on my 56" HD screen to make a final decision, but I think it's going to look like the border from a Genisis side scroller got mixed in by accident. Since it in no way effects the actual gameplay (unless it actually abscures some vital data while playing), I'm not going to be too upset about it at this point.

Also, feel free to complain away. This can still be changed for ME3 so all those "the game has gone gold" comments don't really matter. It does seem as though if we whine about something enough it will be changed next time around.
