This month's challenge is "Vikings, Celts, and Norsemen":

There's a ton of options here from mythological figures to ships, rune stones, and warrior women.

This theme was suggested by Jenna WSI.

Guidelines:
  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine, though state-of-the-art amateur's work would require 100% original work, but that's up to you.
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome, don't be afraid, just try, you'll be surprised!
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by September 1st, 2013 at 10 AM EST. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too. ;-)

Somethings you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:
  • 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot *from in game* for use on the vault page (this also gives me hints on how to display the new goodie).
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goodie. ** Placeables and monsters should include a portrait. **
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goodie.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Also if you would like an invite to the CC Makers group, send Rolo Kipp a friend invite. The group is nothing spectacular, mostly just documentation on 2da lines.
  • If you are doing tileset content, *please* let me know ahead of time so I can get you the set and itp files to work with. I’m horrible at merging those so this bit you will need to provide.
Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity and surprise!

If you have concerns/questions about this month’s Challenge please post in this thread.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here.
***When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.***

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge. We'll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

And finally, you can:

Submit theme suggestions.
Vote for September's theme.
Email content to: NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com

Added a separate thread with some idea/inspiration images here.  Feel free to post more.

Oh, and feel free to make something for this theme. :D  It's looking a little sparse so far with...nothing...mentioned yet in this thread.

Y'all could always make prefabs for certain mythological beings and items if new models/art resources ain't your thing... B)

The Carnix.

A Celtic war horn, with the shape of a boar head, that also could be used like a banner....

it's a torch model. I'm not going to make anything else for this challenge, because I'm quite busy this month. However It's really weird for me that anybody haven't announced any other project; Considering the number of votes for this challenge in the last month, an also it's an interesting topic...

It is a very interesting topic and last months topic was very interesting, too.
Maybe it's not as unpopular as it seems and people just don't have the time to
contribute anything this months. I would if I had the time.

Yeah, it's been mighty slow around here the last couple months.  I personally ran out of time/inspiration with the "lost and forgotten" theme.  This month...still not sure. I posted a bunch of pictures of norse & celt stuff, and links to some info on their mythologies in the same thread.

 <practicing...>

While not strictly a part of this challenge, I've put up the tweaked Ta-VFX (Torso-aligned Visual Effects) templates Cestus used to make the Torcs.
Posted Image

It makes things a lot easier, if no less repetitive :-)

Those are VFX, not neck models?

Any chance at getting Neck model versions as well?

<being a...>

There are two issues with neck models that make me reluctant to add them to my plate:
1) The PLT is a pain. Not a big deal, but added effort.
2) The Ladies. Our darling dears, even the graceful elf or glowering half-Orc, all stand hip-shot. This put their neck over at an acute angle that makes just about any jewelry look ridiculous.

So, while I'm always happy to see what other people do with Amethyst Tapestry stuff, I do not plan neck models myself. Sorry :-/

I whipped up some quick amulet/necklace inventory icons.  One for Thor (mjolnir), one for Loki (twisted snakes), and a simple celtic 3-point knot.

As I have a soft spot for the old Ultima Underworld games and this month's topic includes Vikings, I have made some rune stones. Both inventory icons and placeables.

Posted Image

The icons in game.

Posted Image

A wide-screen shot of the placeables in game to give an impression of size.

Posted Image

Close-up 1 and

Posted Image

Close-up 2 to illustrate the detail in the textures.

Thanks to Rolo for the initial 2 models. While these are perfecly useable, I have not included any scripts. I have sent them in to AD and included the hak, an erf, a test module, a readme and some screenies. I have not included a catalogue as there are only 25 of each (icons and placeables).

Hope these are of use.

Got a day and a half left on this one, folks. Anybody hiding anything else they've made and just haven't told the rest of us about?

Depending on weekend workload and how quickly I can figure my PLT issue out, I may actually have a contribution for once :-)

I will be a little late.

The each-uisge is the kelpie's much more vicious cousin. Just a reskin/prefab. I'll get the final details finished this evening and sent in.

The ogham stones aren't anywhere near ready. They can be a later update. But here's a preview:

Phenix! That is awesome. I have wanted a water horse. The prefab for a kelpie will also be fun.
