I just bought the game and, having played a mage in DA:O, decided to go with a mage again. This time, Primal.
In an ideal world, I'd want all of the talents listed below, but which ones should I focus on first?
Spells – Primal
Rock Armor
Chain Lightning
Tempest:
Galvanism
(Stonefist)
(Petrify)
Spells – Elemental
Winter's Grasp
Cone of Cold
Spells – Spirit
Walking Bomb
Spells – Arcane
Mind Blast
Arcane Shield
Elemental Weapons
Crushing Prison
Barrier
Spells – Entropy
Hex of Torment
Horror
Misdirection Hex
(Entropic Cloud)
Spells – Creation
Heal
(Haste)
Specializations: Force Mage
Fist of the Maker
Unshakable
Pull of the Abyss: Upgrade.
Gravitic Ring: Upgrade.
Telekenetic Burst
I was thinking of getting CoC for better crowd control. Ideally I know I should max out Primal and Force, but what about the rest?

Are you playing on Nightmare? If not, firestorm is your best friend. Insane damage, staggers most folks, just a beautilful spell. Friendly fire is a problem though.
You can ignore tempest. It's just not all that effective. The upgrade for fireball also isn't necessary, as this spell never gets particulary good.
Walking bomb is a nice spell, but a bit situational.
I think you should get Petrify rather early. It is a live saver.
Stone fist, Winter's reach and to a certain degree chain lightning depend on companions you can do combos with. Look at your prefer companions, to see which upgrades to take first.
