Day One DLC = The Bad

Season Pass = Leap of Faith

At least with The Bad, you know you are getting The Bad.

Leap of Faith you might not even get The Bad.

And people are wary of Kickstarting stuff....

I kind of feel like I should bump my EUREKA! topic about ME2 style, Day1FreeDLC.

But I'm a good kid, I don't do that.

Suffice to say that's where I stand.

I really wish they'd take the Bethesda/Obsidian approach to DLC - only a few, but much more substantial.

Heh that was a recent move of Bethesda only after the backlash of Oblivion DLC. No one remember the horse armor DLC?

Yeah, sure, of course, I'll definitely spend some money on it, BioWare deserverves it, they release cool games, uhu, right, no exception, yeah.

I've never purchased a season pass but if bioware was to put one out for DAI than I would definitely get it. I'm going to buy all of their DLC anyways.

To be fair, that was in the earliest infancy of DLC. Pricing models, fan perception, relative adoption rates, etc. were all little more than crapshoots.

I'm still plugging my discount model instead of the pre-payment model, just because it is unequivocally better. :D

Discount is free with pre-orders or Collector's Editions if more revenue is desired (no selling out of CE's either, like they did with ME3, even the digital ones... how can you sell out of digital copies of something...?), then able to be purchased after the fact at anytime for $10. All DLC, whether content or gear/skin, is 50% off.

This means that if EVERY piece of DLC is The Bad, then you might be at a loss (unless, of course, they did go with free pre-order, in which case nothing is lost), but if even two pieces of DLC catch your eye, you break even. Three and you're saving money. More than that and it begins paying for itself.

Seems like much less of a risk on behalf of everybody.

BioWare got it just about right with the NWN Premium Modules, but Atari didn't get it and cancelled them.

Lets be honest, no one takes it to PMs.  They love the audience too much.

It just means that if people are going to insist on continuing to act like that, they're going to get timeouts.

Oh comon, that's a bit cynical... but probably right.

In a silly way, the new PM system does work. It just means "stop" now, and they say "take it to PM" glibly while aware of the absurdity of that suggestion.

And while no one ever harassed me via PM personally because I just can't rustle enough jimmies I guess, I've heard it was a problem for other people.

I don't take it glibly when people suggest I should make my private profile space open to posters who harass me.

I have been harrassed via PM before, and I'm not keen for it to happen again. What they should've done was stick a report button on that feature. I don't know why there isn't one already.

You don't think it was glib when he suggested you and Volus friend each other? I don't think he meant it as some kind of insult...

Or block, but it is easier to simply not have to worry about it from douches who aren't on your list already.

I don't feel insulted, except perhaps to my intelligence. I am, however, annoyed that I get chastised along with Volus Warlord when I wasn't making personal attacks. I don't generally react well to being blamed for things I haven't done/said.

Well there is a block, but I don't think it's enough to hide their behaviour from myself and simply pretend it doesn't exist. I think they need to be reported so that they can't do it to anybody at all.

No, Allan likely gets tired of the constant bull**** and having to investigate PMs, a report button is only going to add to that.

What they could have done is implement a system like the profile viewing, where you can select in your profile options who can send you PMs, that combined with the block button would have been so much easier and delt with the problem at a community level, instead of the crap system we have, which prevents anyone contacting anyone else. Nice way of segregating the community into little groups, throw in some heavy moderation like the MP forums, which is turning into a complete farce by the way, it's utterly stupid, and you have the enormous amount of spam that everyone threw at the MP board, because everyone got pissed with it.

I think the new restriction is stupid, but it makes for a great brushoff. "Send me a PM, and I'll get right on that."

I also think it's a bit liberating to just have spontaneous personal exchanges and other unrelated discussion in the middle of topics. Talk to each other, about whatever you want. It's not like you can do it privately anymore, so why the hell not?

It's like a homeless person taking a dump on the sidewalk. Where else are they going to go?

Gather round, my friends. Right here's fine. Let's have a squat.

Hey Plaintiff, Volus Warlord. Cut it out and return to your own corners. Friend each other and take it to PM if you want to continue bickering.

Hahahaha Hahaha. And that's why the current PM system is a pile of crap. Mods want less sniping and fighting on the forums, then change it back.

What was the phrase on the ME3 MP forums from posters? "Guys, take it to PMs"

They could have made it a privacy option. I do think they just wanted the option to effectively tell people to stop, period. Which is their prerogative. I don't see any segregation happening that wasn't already rampant with all the idiotic groups that pervade this place. To me if the bickering was too childish to be acceptable for the public forum, it's probably not a good idea to continue anywhere. That some innocuous conversation is a casualty, I guess is unfortunate. Perhaps it's not the best solution.

That's dangerous talk there sin, our glorious moderators don't take kindly to such heretical views, follow the party line and be content.

Also my friend just go banned because she said "e-boobs" on the MP forum, another example of glorious moderation.

There's already a report post function, as well as a report user function on peoples' profiles.

The problem does not exist in a vacum, combine that with some massively heavy handed and quite frankly dumb modersation, if you go to the MP forums you'll see this in abundance the likes of which Stan's Volus hammer pales in comparison, its a problem for a MP community particularly as most threads are designated spam, which is funny considering no one can PM anyone else without friending them, which is counter productive.

And yes I am openly questioning moderation, if I was on the MP forums I'd be banned by now.

I think it is an issue of wanting to cut off PMs to mods, honestly. They could be offline or busy or whatever and unable to help you with your issue, when another mod could have. It is a poor way to manage reports (since the Report button is not effective).

The only way they could stop the PMs sounds like a system-wide method of making it Friends only and making all of these mod-bot type profiles that are friends with no one to work the Report functions once they get updated to actually report the thread/poster to the mod team instead of an EA Technical Support Group or whatever.

It was a stop-gap measure to get from Point A to Point B and it was likely deemed not a big deal for the small amount of time it will need to work (before the new BSN facelift).

All speculation on the part of Fast Jimmy, but there you go.

Only if Bioware/EA has a DLC plan and know for a fact they're going to release so many DLCs by a certain point.

That is usually the case for DLC now a days, the season pass stuff grew out of giving customers more value in a way that wont ****** off retailers.

And chances are, BioWare does have a plan for DLC because it would be foolish not to at this point in the game.

Which kicks it up to the mods who have to investigate the accusation. As I said. I hope most people have half a brain and can resolve their own problems using the system tools if they were better implimented, instead I see a lot of "he offended my sensibilities*report*"

Planning is one thing. Having consumers pay money based on those plans (which are subject to change with little input from said payers) is a dangerous model.

The less promised, the better. The lower the cost of pass, the better. And the more open (not laying out specific DLC that could result in exclusions), the better.

All of which play in perfect wih my discount model. Honestly, someone at EA needs to give me a call.
