I consider myself a very average player and I can do some decent killing on Gold and can solo Gold with many, if not all kits. I have never played platinum before, only saw team play videos and some solo videos.This evening, I played 2 PUG gold games and both resulted in mission failure and I left the lobby. I was bored, and I thought lets do a Platinum solo (yes, the idea just came into my head). I had no hope or intention of even going past wave 3 because the first 3 plat waves are as tough as the waves 8-10 of Gold. I just wanted to see myself how I would fare in my first Platinum game/solo. And to my pleasant surprise, I got a mission successful wit full extraction. Needless to say, I was elated as much as I was shocked. And the thing was, I did it quite well (by my standards) as I has 3 medigels, 2 OPS, 1 rocket by the end.

I did use a relatively 'easy mode' character.
Geth trooper with acolyte and geth plasma smg (only to deal with guardians)
Mods: Acolyte = damage barrel + power magnifier
            Geth plasma = piercing mod + power magnifier
Gear: Geth scanner, cyclonic 2, cryo ammo 2, pistol rail amp 2 (Didn't use higher level ones as I had no hope of even going past wave 3)

The timing is nothing great but I don't care as I finished it successfully. I kited way too much in the later waves which could have been avoided but after getting 5 waves survived medal, I wanted to see how far I could go.

First Platinum solo I tried was the infamous Thunderdome. Made it to wave 9. Very good you succeeded.

lol, I see people solo gold in 20-25 mins. I can never do it with any kit. When I said solo gold with most kits, I meant excruciatingly long solos lasting 60-70 odd minutes.

I think you're better than average. You used level II equipment and succeeded.

Still pretty cool for your first plat match even though it was arguably the easiest setup. I suspect you are at least slightly better than average. My third or fourth plat match was a solo.

Been playin' since launch and I'm pretty sure I'd fail pretty hard at Gold/Plat solos. That or take as much time as you did. **** that. Still, I think most here would consider "can solo Gold with most kits" a little above average.

Very nice op. Kudos to using level II gear and succeeding. My first successful plat solo was with the Collector.

**** the average player can barely survive silver on a team let alone solo platinum. The OP kicked ass. I don't have the balls to solo platinum I was happy being able to solo gold and I grinded it out in 35 minutes.

Go for it. Use GT soldier for super cheese mode lol. Nothing is more cheesier than acolyte+flamer

Congrats. Between the fact that the game likes not giving me consumables I can use in favor of a few billion Shield Power Cells items (you know, because those are just so handy in contrast to Cyclonic Modulators), drops weapon amps for weapons I almost never use (Pistol/SMG amps rather than Shotgun/AR/Sniper amps), and the fact that the game likes scewing me over (best I did during a plat run was wave 9, whereupon I got "You have been disconnected from the Mass Effect 3 server"), I wrote this off as unattainable a long time ago.

The game will not let me, and will not give me the materials to make the attempt.
