I was wondering: if you don't bring Anders with you to face the Mother and save Amaranthine, will people in Dragon Age 2 (like Nathaniel) react as if he died?

I'm not sure. I never got the 'Anders, I thought you were dead' dialogue myself, even though I left Anders at the Keep when I defended Amaranthine. Others did. It's a coin toss, really.
