(Repost from General Discussion late last night.)

The 4870 and 4890 have a known issue where any program that loads the
card past what AMD imagined was "typical" can *easily* overload the
VRMs and crash the thing.  Furmark, OCCT -- these will crash the card
*instantly*.

The character creator is easy to render but for
that same reason causes sky-high framerates that, yes, overload and
crash the card in the same way.

The fix?  Enable vsync.  That
will cap your framerate at your refresh rate (60 if you're on a LCD) so
you don't have the card stupidly trying to render 1000 fps.  No more
crashes...  Until you hit a bug or something, anyway.  ;)

I don't usually get a lot of tearing but this game was just insane during cutscenes. So I enabled VSync and now it's all good. Beside the few spots where it dips in the 30's and 40's FPS.
