I hope you reconsider Bioware, I really do.

Anyway, I love Shepard just as much as the next person, but his (or her) journey has ended. It's time to let a new hero shine, no? Just look at Dragon Age.

Let me die!
So I go, pressing on through the wind and the waves
If I drown, let me go, so that you can be safe...
It don't matter if people remember name
I have lived...I have lived...
so let me die.

Yet at the same time, they make me so angry at what Bioware did to the story.

Go ahead. It's an incredible tribute of what was good about ME3.

That's the point, Mass Effect is not supposed to be another Dragon Age. Mass Effect is about Shepard on his/her journey. Dragon Age on the other hand is about the world. Not the warden not Hawke but the event's that are happening around them. I think that the upcoming Mass Effect game should bring Shepard back if not, don't make another Mass Effect game, leave it as it is. Shepard's story is done, so should the series.jadewolf21 wrote...

And there is nothing preventing Bioware from creating a new protagonist and supporting characters that are just as interesting as those in the first three games.
Back when it was first announced that Mass Effect 2 would have a new cast of squadmates, a lot of people were angry that their favorite characters weren't coming back. People complained how the new cast would be a pale imitation. Fast forward a couple years and some of those Mass Effect 2 squadmates have just as many (or more) fans that some of the original cast.
Star Trek went through a similar thing with The Next Generation. Old school fans complained that a new cast of characters that weren't Kirk and Spock and Scotty was a terrible idea, and predicted that the new series would be horrible. Now Captain Picard and Q and Worf and Riker are just as beloved by trekkies as the characters from the original series.

In short, I doubt we'd get the same Mass Effect quality without a new story, I believe if Shepard were to return in full the the quality would be that of (In my opinion) the quality of the ending, but rather 15 minutes, it'd be 30+ hours of it.

Hopefully though it won't be a DA2 compared to DA:O (as much as I liked DA2 and the Hawke character, most of the companions were less interesting than the ones in Origins)...
I'm wondering if the next installment will be the first game in a new trilogy or just a standalone title. If it's going to be a trilogy I sincerely hope Bioware takes effort in creating a main plot/outline for the entire trilogy (and a better ending). No unbeatable alien menace which requires depending on 'gods out of the machine'.

I have faith that the next Mass Effect's protagonist will be as good as Shepard, maybe even better. The same goes for the companions: yes they won't be Garrus or Liara, but as soon as we get used to them, we'll love them just as much.
I dislike Garrus and Liara anyways. It'd be a plus to not have anyone like them.

I have to disagree on that. The MEU that has been established already has a shi*load of lore, characters, factions etc. It's more than just some sugar on top of the cake that is Shepard's story: It's a key component. The universe CAN do without Shepard (in terms of narrative etc.), but not the other way round.
Immediately after finishing ME3 I also thought that NME without Shepard would be pointless. But there's just so much more to explore.

I believe Bioware could pull out another good character. Shepard's journey was undeniably epic and amazing. Shepard deserves his rest, perhaps in cameos or mentions should be his only return in future games, but I feel his journey is done. I don't think I could word it better than Han Shot First above, but If Shepard were to return in full then his believability as a human would lessen and I can't imagine any story that wouldn't feel forced or "pooped out".
In short, I doubt we'd get the same Mass Effect quality without a new story, I believe if Shepard were to return in full the the quality would be that of (In my opinion) the quality of the ending, but rather 15 minutes, it'd be 30+ hours of it.
Perhaps the more long lived members of the team make a cameo (liara, wrex) and mention shepard briefly.Maybe a memorial gets made in the future, shows the date of when shepard died so that if you picked destroy you can see he/she had a full life afterward. Something as simple as that would make me happy.
Oh and that fan vid?

I, for one, hate the route Dragon Age has taken. I was immensely attached to my mute Warden. Then poof! He's gone. Okay, so I get this 'Hawke' guy now. Right, well, I suppose I can get used to- Poof! Gone. Then the next game starts. And I have absolutely no attachment to the character. In fact, the best bits of Dragon Age 2 were the odd snippets where I met characters who interacted with, accompanied or spoke of -MY- Warden.
And while Mass Effect is rich enough to carry on without Shepard, it just wont be the same. I don't mind if they do a few standalone games where he plays a cameo role. Or you get no more interaction than meeting a few of his companions/people mentioning him. In fact, that could only serve the strengthen the universe and make it richer. But down the line, I would love to see Shep back at the helm of ME in a style much similar to Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes.
