WHY USE THIS MOD?

If you are already using the party of the Citadel DLC as your ending or if you play the entire Citadel DLC as your ending, then this mod is for you.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES

Out of over 4,000 lines of dialogue and text, it changes less than 5% of the Citadel DLC to allow it to be played after the game is over. There is no talk of war, the reapers, Cerberus, or "winning." You can also opt for the lite, or party only version of the mod, to play the Citadel DLC and meetups during the main story and then celebrate after defeating the reapers.

Not required at all, but story wise the Citadel Epilogue Mod makes the most sense with one of the following.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Grab it from Nexus, ModDB, or BDelecroix's site.

Note: If using CEM Lite, do all the meetups with friends since the apartment ones are blocked after the credits roll and you shouldn't do the ones on the Silversun Strip at that point anyway. You now can't accidentally throw the party early either. The Full version won't even let the Citadel DLC begin until after the game is over so you don't have to think about it. Both CEM Lite and Full do offer install options which don't block certain things from happening too early, which can be useful if things don't go as planned with your particular Shepard and game setup.

You just need two files depending on what you're using (full or lite.) If you're using MEHEM, ThaneMOD, or JAM and want CEM to work with it, you need to download two files.

First, always grab either
CEM Full Automatic Installer
OR
CEM Lite Automatic Installer

Second, grab the transition which matches what you use.
An example would be CEM Full Automatic Installer and you use MEHEM, grab MEHEM to CEM Automatic Installer

ThaneMOD users. You are all set with either the MEHEM to CEM installer or JAM to CEM installer. Just follow the instructions during install for MEHEM to CEM and JAM to CEM automatically works with ThaneMOD.

Requires the Citadel DLC to function.

HOW TO USE THIS MOD

Simply read the instructions during install. The license agreement is where everything is explained in detail. Even if you don't use MEHEM, ThaneMOD, or JAM, you still have options.

I also recommend you keep your Effective Military Strength (EMS) high. Since Gibbed doesn't always work, I keep my EMS high by visiting http://social.biowar.../galaxy_at_war/

Here's a Q & A to for the most common questions.

Q: Did you use custom audio or original audio files?
A: Any audio file changes use voices of the original cast. Mostly the lines are from Mass Effect 2 and the remaining few from Mass Effect 1 and 3.

Q: What are these other changes you made?
A: Most of the remaining changes are text changes in emails, primarily from the Armax Arsenal Area. Very few lines were cut. Most of those are actually lines of people as you pass by them on the Silversun Strip and not critical lines to the DLC.

Q: Do you keep your weapons and armor you get during CEM Full for an NG+ play through?
A: Shockingly, it appears yes. I have the M-7 Lancer I picked up during CEM Full when I did an NG+. Didn't get to the armor to confirm but odds are you'd keep that too. Thanks klaydabbz, for asking the question.

Q: How did you deal with the goodbye scene?
A: It's largely intact but given the minor line tweaks and music change, it should leave you with the impression that Shepard is simply off to do more standard duty, not going off to his or her death. Hopefully it will allow you to leave the trilogy with a good feeling closer to ME1 or ME2's endings.

Minor spoiler question below

Q: Hey, EDI's here and I did the destroy ending. And Cortez didn't make it either. Why are they here!?
A: Technical reason only. I just don't have the ability, and I'm not sure if anyone could, get required people out of the party. Maybe they could be excluded from the meetups bit but if they're at the party there's no point. I didn't want to get into changing the destroy ending to the game to make this work. Besides, JAM by JohnP is probably the best of both worlds for the destroy crowd and allows the Citadel Epilogue Mod to make sense.

Big spoiler question below

Q: I finished the game with JAM or MEHEM, saw a video indicating CEM was starting, but then nothing happened. What's with that!?
A: CEM is built on the premise that if your EMS is high enough to live and, in the case of JAM version A, you choose the only option which can allow Shepard to live, CEM will start. If Shepard doesn't live then CEM won't start. The reason you see the transition video is because I replace End004.bik and mute the conversation in the stargazer scene. Basically, get your EMS over 3,100 and destroy the Reapers. If you don't do that, don't use a transition from MEHEM/JAM to CEM and instead you can just use CEM Full or CEM Lite by themselves with a previous save or just don't use this mod.

Thank you to all these people.

My wife for allowing me to pretty much focus solely on this project for way too long.

WarrantyVoider and the me3explorer team for making this possible. Otherwise I’d be stuck making youtube videos instead of changing the game.

MrFob for putting up with an onslaught of communication, helping me through technical challenges, and offering advice.

JohnP for making time to transition MEHEM to CEM but also explaining how to do it to me and for figuring out a new way to make these mods work.

giftfish and JohnP for the script to create an installer.

Almostfaceman, BDelacroix, Chashan, cfs3corsair, dke, Saake. Thank you guys! You pushed this mod to the next level with all your feedback during the many, many PMs I sent you all.

wavion for testing the mod, offering very technical advice, and most importantly, creating an installer so more people could try this mod out.

spamtrash, Blad3Zer0, and McBlade223 for providing key romance saves which I could use for testing.

Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on the forum to help fix things I missed or suggested ways to make it better.

But most importantly, thank you Bioware for making characters and a story I actually care about. Thank you for the Citadel DLC!

Ah, there it is. Good to see it up and running.
Thanks for putting all these hours into it Deager, from what I've seen so far, it works great.

Just a heads up (with a minimal spoiler alert), for v0.4 of MEHEM, the plan is to implement an option where, right after the end, you will go directly to Deager's modified party for the complete happy ending experience with epilogue and "the best" (ride) line as the final line in the game..

I guess it's only allowed for group members atm. Just go to the project -> Manage Files and set the option from group members only to everyone.

EDIT: Ah, nevermind, too slow.

Great idea to endeavour putting the DLC into a better context, much appreciated.

Out of curiosity, would you consider putting the raw file up for manual installation as well? May be somewhat more convenient for those who are comfortable with implementing it themselves.

I was thinking I'd do that but actually can I suggest an idea for you? Maybe install, then strip out the DLC_EXP_Pack003_Int.afc from the Default.sfar file with me3explorer, uninstall, and now you have your own afc copy? I've never tested it but it seems like it could work.

Deager, there is another consideration for a manual version: some people are wary about running executables from unsigned/unofficial sources. While I can promise the exe does nothing nefarious, I can certainly understand the sentiment. A manual version might make the more cautious types more comfortable, as they can see exactly what is happening to their computers. And, as a general rule, I encourage everybody to keep their virus scanners up-to-date and to scan any exe they download for viruses/trojans before running it.

This look grate and just what I'm looking for Downloading now will keep an eye on this thread and get back to you when I get around to playing it as I'm about half way through ME2 at the moment.

Qote by Deager
At this time, the main mission is not changed so it is not designed to be played after the end of the game. It is something I would like to try in the future. My apologies for the installer implying that the full install changes even the main mission.
End Quote

sorry this may sound a bit thick but when you say that the mod dose not change the main story are you talking about the clone storyline or that the game will still load just before Cerberus base after the credits?

Thank you.

That is a good question. The clone storyline is what I was talking about. Sounds like I need to do an edit.

Alright, raw files are available now if you'd like. Should be in the description above.

I tried the "lite" version ie, just the party.

Pretty cool.  Though I had subtitles on so Ihad osme laughs when they didn't match up exactly

The only bad thing I can really say is in some spots the audio splicing isn't 100% smooth.  You know, a split-second pause before the inserted dialogue plays.  Or differences in audio quality.  But even then, it doesn't ruin the experience (Heck even in teh vanilla game I get audio glitches).  All in all, a very satisfactory mod.

Looking forward to using it with MEHEM for a "perfect ending"

Thanks iakus,

Yeah, it's rough. I suspect I'll never get all the audio done properly. But, now that it's out, the goal will be to clean up the worst stuff in the party and work my way backwards. At the moment though, it's triology run number 5 for me. My first Shepard deserved better.

Well, like I said, it's noticeable, but not a big deal to me.  Heck I have whole lines in the Jondum Bau mission on the Citadel that don't play at all, and matriarch Aethyta claiming Liara's my girlfriend when she's not.  I can handle a half-second beat before someone says something other than 'Reapers" ;)

This is awesome. I know it conflicts with the point, but is there any way you might release a version with no EDI? I'd love to play the party after the end, but I go with destroy + breath and play that EDI and the Geth were killed as well. If not, no problems :)

Thanks. I hope you and others enjoy the mod.

I'm very skeptical that I'd ever be able to remove EDI from the party as I think about all the technical challenges. I know, it really doesn't work well with the destroy ending at all and is a huge plot problem. While this mod may be integrated with MEHEM I also know many people like the vanilla destroy ending and breath scene but this one may be unfixable by me.

All that said, it's not like I won't do some research on the idea.

This is only theory as I am not of technical variety, but is it possible to change her variable to match some of the characters who can die? For instance, kill Ashley or Tali in a file and use that data to remove EDI in another file. Alternatively, just remove the email prompt so EDI's Citadel activities never trigger. People can then headcanon her out.

Anywho, on the mod itself. I offer you and Mr. Fob this:

@Bourne Endeavor

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. My hope for everyone is that the party is less cringe worthy for ignoring reaper lines and that heading back to the ship feels like a nicer goodbye now.

I got some info on the EDI situation. I'm pretty sure she is required at the party in the game and because of that, there's probably no way I or anyone else can remove her and then replace her with someone else.
