How did you ruin 30-40 lives?

My father wasn't exactly a good man, the sins of the father passed down to me and the men he had involved with came for me. Was given the choice, to die or betray my father's men.

You can guess which one I took.

So another one chose honor onto death and self-sacrifice, huh?

Like a true warrior.

Well, I'm a very happy person. However, I never let the pain I caused others to slip my memory. I hold it against myself, and try to be selfless in future situations. I don't always succeed in this, but I'll get better.

I have both old and new regrets. The old regrets I learned from and they shape my future decisions. The new regrets, nothing time won't heal. I really should have worn gloves when moving. My knuckles wouldn't be all banged up. Oh well. Something to remember and learn from.

Fortunately I have very few regrets, I actually only have one real regret so far, I'll probably carry it with me for quite awhile, since I rarely really regret anything for as long as I've regretted this one.

Good luck.

In
another thread someone was wondering why the mods don't post often on
these boards. This is one example of why I tend to post very little: many people seem determined to misinterpret what was actually written. This makes it rather frustrating to try to engage in meaningful discussion.

I don't think anyone said they'd never made bad decisions that were detrimental in their, or someone else's life. The point is not fixating on those bad choices, but learning from them. Accept your role in it, take notes, make amends, and move on. Don't become paralyzed from past mistakes. If you don't have control over your emotions, what do you have control over?

Exactly.

Well, you can still learn to be content with your life.
I mean at least you aren't starving to death at a prison camp in North Korea. :wizard:

You're being philosophical, I'm being historical. You (and others) live in present, I live in Past, Present and future. I have the Experience© and insight™ to predict how is the hindering consequences of a simple event.
Damn right.

I can't enjoy my present when my situation is so screwed up comparing to my cousins and friends. It is nearly impossible to find sympathy about my pains and failures in RL, no wonder Internet is such an ass clown show.

I regret pretty much every major decision I've made in my life. I all envy people who can say that they regret nothing in thier lives or those that do but say they would not change anything if they could do it all over again because if I could do everything over again I would change a lot.

Good, this kid understands.

Too many to count.

Picking the wrong major and direction in college would be the big one(Mathematics). It taught me the important lesson of "Do what you love, not what you think people want you to be". The best thing we can do with mistakes is learn from them, so that would be my advice on what to do with a list of regrets.

I have no idea what point you're trying to make here, although it seems you're still determined to draw conclusions about me and others from very little to no information other than a single statement.

"Regret is something I know well. Take care not to cling to it, to hold it too close that it poisons your soul."

Oh, I regret a great many things, but I also realize that the choices I made — or didn't make — could have led me to equal or greater sorrow.

Kind of random but.... me and some friends egged our school when we were young, the next day the janitor had to go up on some huge ladder and scrub it up, he was a pretty nice guy and I felt like a piece of ****.

A lot of things.

Among them: not being sociable enough, often being indifferent or too impulsive, being a sadist, not keeping in contact with the people that were my friends, letting depression and mood swings overwhelm me, alienating the girl that could have been my girlfriend. The list goes on. All I can do is try to learn from my mistakes and try not repeat them in the future. But even then there are no guarantees that things won't f*ck up again...

Mainly just being a huge douche to people back in my "emo" phase, and a few other people after that. Learning experiences though.

I didn't discover who I really am until age 19. I regret not discovering it sooner.

At least you didn't wait until your 40s, as I did.  Still, better late than never.

I also regret deciding that the best way to deal with my diabetes was to ignore it, that is until it nearly killed me: that rather forced the issue, though at least any serious permanent damage is hopefully minimal.

You could of died? Jeez, sounds like your father was involved in crime.
