Liara and Tali don't throw themselves at Shepard. I don't remember too much about Kelly.

Agreed, while both have an romantic intreset they can be turned down when they express said intrest easily enough and move on.

Though an argument can be made that Liara gets a bit stalkerish in ME3

I would say the "stalker" aspect comes about in ME2.

I end up directing most of my annoyance at the writers than Liara herself. It's like some stubborn friend or family member trying to encourage me to eat something I don't care for. "Try it, you'll like it. Mmmmm.. Just this once. For me. Please? You'll love it.. I just know it. I SAID EAT IT."

Is there really a difference? Liara can only say what the writers... Write. Blaming one is the same as blaming the other.

Liara is consistently ranked as one of the most popular characters. Clearly, the writers have done something right with her.

It's just more cathartic this way for me, I guess.

Popularity is irrelevant.

You should know that better than most.

Popularity is in no way indicative of quality. The Michael Bay Transformers movie pulled in $709 million. Does that mean the movie is any good?

For somebody who tries to act like they know everything about everything, I would have thought you knew that.

I said that more as a justification for Liara's presence in ME 3. Justification for content such as LotSB, Liara rescuing Shepard's body, Liara being on several missions, Liara talking to Shepard...

You didn't put the slightest effort into making that clear.

Regardless, popularity isn't a good "excuse" for overtly dsiturbing behavior on Liara's part.

You want my advice? You've already had a full romance playthrough with Tali, so go ahead and try one with Liara and then decide which one you want to headcanon. I've had 2 playthroughs with Ashley as my main romance and started one with Liara instead and Kaidan alive, and it'll take me some time before I decide what the canon one is.

That has more to do with BioWare writing themselves into a corner than Liara's popularity. She is the only character who can survive all the way through the series, and thus able to carry plot points other characters may not be around for. This is why Garrus and Tali have no plot relevance despite having a legion of fans.

Kelly is pretty cheap, Massively is right in that one. Tali might be madly in love with Shep, but she holds herself back, because she doesn't seem to think she has any real chances anyway. Liara can be turned down, but she then becomes an awkward stalker and seems somewhat jealous if Shep is already in a relationship.

That's nonsense. After Liara expresses her interest in Shepard in ME1 she never brings up the topic again if you end the romance here. In ME3, it's Shepard who expresses his/her interest in Liara ("I want to be more than friends"). She also takes being dumped rather well...compared to certain other characters.

Yeah, the way she has extremely personal files on Shep's other potential LIs(e.g. Tali's nerve stim programs and Miranda's dating website history) isn't at all creepy. Aethya mentions how Liara is still interested in Shep. Liara is also once quite vicious against Tali, if you dump her for Tali.

Yeah, She's so sane of mind that she believes claims of a terrorist organisation that they can bring some alliance military officer, whom she worked with before and who died when their ship exploded, back to life. The fact that she even considers that option, let alone helps them, shows how poor these characters and plots were written.

When is this? It's not before the geth dreadnaught mission, in which if you dump Liara for Tali it's actually Tali that's more aggressive.

Tali: Anything we need to....discuss?
Liara: No, I just hope you two are happy together.
Tali: Thank you.

That sounds pretty dignified to me. Are you thinking of the scenario where the player starts the dreadnaught mission while still technically flagged for both romances? Because that's when the nerve-stim pro convo happens.

The best thing I've found is just to choose every Renegade type option in ME1. Then she'll salute Shepard and see herself as nothing more than a soldier. Then tell her that her hacking quest is a waste of time in ME2, and never play LotSB. Then pretty much ignore her in ME3. If you skip some dialogue, then she'll never ask to go up to Shep's cabin and talk about the time capsule or anything like that (I suppose it might be based on a Reputation score?).

Don't mean to be too off-topic, but that's a way to keep the stalker stuff out of sight. Like any real life stalker, if you give them even the slightest amount of attention, you're just digging your own hole.

And Tali is quite vicious against Liara, if you dump her for Liara. Ashley doesn't consider Miranda to be a real person if you romanced her in ME1. Your point? And you know that the Yahg-Broker already had these information about your squadmates, yes?

You should really check the definition of stalking.

Stalking: noun. A form of harassment generally comprised of repeated persistent following with no legitimate reason and with the intention of harming, or so as to arouse anxiety or fear of harm in the person being followed. Stalking may also take the form of harassing telephone calls, computer communications, letter-writing, etc.

Did Liara do that? No...
