If I remember right, Walters' first game was Jade Empire.

Jade Empire was one of the better stories BioWare has managed to put together. I think Mac was a supplemental writer, but so was most everybody else (including Drew IIRC).

Not to say that speaks to any individual strength or weakness, but JE being your first game isn't necessarily something to knock (and the narrative presentation was at least as compelling as Origins, despite what somebody might think about the gameplay mechanics).

I heard the new ME comics have Cerberus help building Arcturus Station with child slaves.

Cerberus tried to sabotage the Flotilla, so they're bad in my book. However, they do have Martin Sheen:huh:

He did it for humanity! Just where do your loyalties lie?

If you mean the humanity in ME, then not with them. I'd probably sacrifice the rest of the galaxy for the Quarians.

That kind of shows how... off the wall your reactions have been.

Humanity is way too mainstream and overrated in ME.

I always loved the Quarians, from their Middle Eastern nomad(Tuareg) theme to their awesome accents. And hey, Tali is by far the cutest girl in ME, both in character and looks;)

They're based on gypsies, from what I understand. At least Ash Sroka said she was going for that. She pretty much wrote the book on their accents. But they did get some middle eastern actors for some parts as well.

Humans are the most diverse species in ME(And I don't mean genetically). The "aliens" are just humans in costumes fitting whatever one note stereotype or caricature of humanity.

Yes, I know. They mainly live in North Africa between Algeria and Egypt(at least a part of the ethnic group). It's just simpler to call them Middle Eastern, since most people have never heard of them. Anyway, your point is rather irrelevant to my comment.

Gypsies are cool though. There were some local gypsies were who taking water out of public tanks and came up with some scheme to sell it back to people. Classic.

Perhaps, but their culture is more reminiscent of the Berber Tuareg and the Arabian Bedouins. The Tuareg men and Bedouin women veil their faces for example, their patterns and suits resemble multiple Middle Eastern cultures and Tali's face model is Middle Eastern.

But I guess I'm the sociopathic, emotionally dead one for being willing to kill my significant other if they ever condemned my entire species to death.

Tuareg are Berber, an ethnicity originally from the Middle East and a part of their living area is in fact in the Middle East. You're forgetting the fact, that parts of North Africa are officially still in the Middle East.

Gypsies (Romani) originally came from the Middle East. They got mistaken for Egyptians though (because Europeans were dumb) and gave them that label "gyp.. Egypt.. Gypsy".

I don't see the Bedouin connection though. Both are wandering peoples, but the Gypsies are the resourceful types who get blacklisted in a lot of areas and have to live down a reputation as thieves (like the Quarians do).

No. The level of fail is just... no.

It wouldn't be called North Africa if it was part of the Middle East. Speaking as a geography expert, a political scientist, and as a veteran of OEF, no part of Africa is part of the Middle East or vice Versa.

These are two completely separate continents. The Middle East is in Asia.

North Africa is in... Africa.

Look, Ash was going for Gypsy --

That was the beginning of my exposure to dialects, which eventually led to Tali’s unidentifiable pseudo Eastern European, Quarian Gypsy accent in Mass Effect.

For Tali, the character description said something like- we want a gypsy-like unidentifiable accent, a young girl going on her Pilgrimage. What I was reading was her opening speech about leaving for her pilgrimage and I remember feeling so connected. I love when I get material like that for voice acting, something really juicy that I can land in. Tali’s accent just came out of my mouth. I had a great time and that is always my goal during an audition, just to enjoy getting an opportunity to act.

Very much so. I think the same applies to the Quarians. They go into settled star systems and strip mine planets that don't belong to them. I'm fine with helping them out, but they don't really get to just show up and take what they want or need.
