Seriously! That comment is RIDICULOUS! I mean I got used to it and learned to tune it out after a while, but it never should've been there in the first place. When I picked the violent voiceset the preview phrases led me to believe that it would be a dark, serious, no BS kind of voice. And then the most common phrase that I hear makes my character sound like an overly sarcastic obnoxious ******. It's so out of character, I think it might actually be a bug.

The weirdest part is that occurs while you're "possessing" your character and doing things as him, which makes it really weird that he's reacting as if being given orders. I think this is something that doesn't translate well from previous games. Characters shouldn't vocalize in response to orders if they're possessed.
The comments about seeing traps or barely surviving a battle are great though.

You need to modify your saved game to change the sound set of your character. Download the Dragon Age Toolset (sorry, I don't have a link handy and I'm too tired to look for it), use it to open your save game (eg. C:\\\\Documents and Settings\\\\username\\\\My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Characters\\\\character_name\\\\Saves\\\\QuickSave_1, it's the file with the .das extension). Then you'll have to navigate the treeview to find the soundset.
Expand SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR, expand SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR and look for SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET and SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSET. Double click the 'Value' column on these rows to change it.
The list of soundsets can be found in \\\\Dragon Age\\\\tools\\\\Source\\\\2DA\\\\playersoundsets.xls, a simple Excel file. Copy one of those to the appropriate cells in the toolset and click save. That should do it.
Hope this helps.

Bumping this becuase it works so far. I gave all my female characters (including the human warrior) the experienced female dwarf voiceset. It's the best one I think (I need to go back and listen to the female elf voicesets).
For me, all of the female human voices are bad, save for the wise one. But it wont work for a warrior since she says a line "There is no honor in bloodshed"... The wise female dwarf voice would have worked, if she did not scream like a child everytime she was hit...

Female mage, 'sultry' voice.
Everytime she says, 'Sensing more darkspawn', it sounds like she has,
A) A lisp
A nasty cold.

Hopefully they update/edit the PC voices for the expansion. If not, for future reference, they should allow us to listen to the ENTIRE list of responses for the voices so we can make a better choice (or allow us to delete certain lines).

i actually like when my elf says that. was thinking about making it my new message tone^^

Yeah, though I like the tone I can't stand:
"That would make an interesting pet"
"A little frantic? Ha! I can see why!"
"Is it just me, or do you actually think you have a chance?"
I think it's the fact that her accent is way too heavy.

I had a city elf with the violent voice and I actually had to restart because I couldn't stand the idea of a whole game like that. Now I always go with the wise or experienced voice, or sometimes the cocky voice because even it is less rude.

Anyone have a favorite for human noble men? Would the cocky voice suit a warrior tank who enjoys battle?

My favorite is the 'silent one'.

It can get quite repetetive, but to be honest, the rest of the lines are one of my favorites.
"It's a massacre, and no one's getting out alive!" *sigh* that one always gets me pumped up for some hurlock smashing goodness.

I've been looking in to transferring Bishop's voice set from NWN2 into Dragon Age.
He had a rather epic voice set.

Sultry female is so funny...I love when she's looting a bloody darkspawn corpse and suddenly exclaims, "Lovely!"

I get the feeling I'm the only one here who likes the violent voiceset (At least for my FHN). Sure it's cheesy, but it's cheesy good imo. The "ladder" one always brings a smile on my face.

Experienced and Suave are great (but very opposite) voicesets for Male Human Nobles.

i'm not ashamed to admit i got a little tingle downstairs the first time my female city elf said "look at this mess, i love it!"

Violent is by far the worse. I deleted a character and started over after the complete origin quest. My favorite is the sultry female elf. "oh. . . I got blood on me"

I really like the violent human voiceset, but the "ladder" comment does get a little old. The rest of the lines make up for it, though! Unfortunately the violent dwarf and elf voices just don't have the same "edge" to them.
