The Cliffhangers and the (apparent) death of my all time favourite female protagonist (besides Lara Croft and Elizabeth) left me really wanting for more, so it's awesome to see them funded. It's coming for 2014, a year... not that bad considering the fans who've had to wait since 2006.
So anyway, just here to recommend the Longest Journey saga to anyone who loves good story-telling, humour and well-written characters.
The only bad thing I would have to say about this game is that awkward romance scene...just felt forced. Still, I'm excited to see what they'll do next with Dreamfall Chapters.

I can't really get past the clunky gameplay.
That's a shame. There are some really good games out there with just crappy gameplay. But I suppose not everyone (and I think I'm in the minority here) can look past it.
The Game of Thrones "RPG" for example. Horrible gameplay and voice acting, yet the writing and plot is superb!

Do not mind gameplay if it is slowpaced. After finishing what I am playing now will check that game out next.

I downloaded it for the Xbox 360 ages ago and couldn't get into it. I came back to it much later, gave it another go and really enjoyed it. LOL at the combat but its only a minor issue. Great story, characters, puzzles, etc. I never played the first one but it has one of the most obscure, difficult puzzles ever and is a nice reminder of those frustrating, blisfull days of the point and click adventure.

This is why perhaps the second suffered in gameplay, it's essentially a third person game with point-and-click elements. I feel there shouldn't have been combat at all like the first one :-)

Yeah combat is clunky, and frankly it felt it out of place in a genre known for rewarding brains/patience over brawn. Ultimately a fellow gamer (Sunbeam) on the official forums made a trainer (PC version only, of course) to help some of us get past the combat. That was some time ago.
I don't mind the controls once I get used to them. It's a slow paced game except for a few scenes, and I love it for that.

I really want to play it but my first impression using M+K was dreadful. It was better with the controller so there's that. Might give it another shot.

Yeah, the controls did bug me at first, it took me a good 3 hours to get used to it to the point where I was comfortable.
