No seriously, I god ****ing hate them. Who come up with that stupid idea that a ONE SINGLE spider can either: web you, jump on you or do both.

What the hell is this?! If they spawn 8 SPiders around my party, this equals 8 webs à 5 seconds of paralysation = 40 seconds of just being ****ing idle. And then they still think that they have to jump at you and pinn you at the ground without any possibility to free yourself except for a lucky stun by Leliana or Oghren.
Im just ****ing raging at these spiders, its just so ridiculous. Especially if ONE SINGLE Darkspawn Emmissary destroys my whole party time after time cause im stuck in those stupid webs out of no apparent reason and with no possibility of freeing myself.

I can;t think of a single pace that requires you to fight spiders and emissaries at the same time, stop charging everything, this isn't Halo.

Feel free to use your own crowd control on them. There are only like 20 options open to you.

Use stunning attacks to knck spiders away from people they have pinned.

While your post was definitely in the rant form, I never really thought before in depth how overpowered the spiders may be.

I think the most interesting aspect is they seem to have these immobilizing abilities, and multiple ones, while many other enemies in the game are pushovers with no real abilities (that do anything noticeable at least). Perhaps Bioware simply believe giant spiders to be the most powerful thing in the world. But I think it is fitting of their species. Spiders like to immobilize their foes.

Yes the spiders pounce is a problem but it can be resisted, and any knock down attack like shield bash has a chance of negating it. I can't think of where you fight 8 spiders at once and you do have 4 party members.

The Ogres grab attack is just as bad and I think only the Blight infected spiders get the pounce and maul attack.

They knew it would ****** you off. That's how BioWare rolls.

Edit to add: There is at least two places where you get eight or so spiders at the same time,(almost every time you go there) and a couple more where you will have to fight several groups in pretty quick order.

There are a handful of fights in the Deep Roads with Emissaries and spiders.

That being said, spiders aren't too bad if you manage the aggro - make sure all the spiders are focused on your tank (use threaten, etc.), then use your mage or melee damager to paste them.

I'm ok with the pouncing and the webbing... However, when they unexpectedly drop down from a ceiling right in front of my face (and on a big screen tv, they are HUGE), I scream like a little girl... First time that happened, I squealed and dropped my controller -- hubby still hasn't let me live that down.

Hah, I know where you're talking about. Yeah, that fight is a pain in the ass. Rushing straight at the guy just spawns more spiders and sitting back gets your ass kicked by his spells. Just unlesh everything you have at him from range and take him out before he does too much damage, then deal with the spiders. Failing that, get their attention, then run like hell around a corner to lure them into a trap.

There is one spot, just before you meet Hespith, but I won´t say more because of spoilers. But I totally agree, don´t charge in and actually use some *gasp* tactics and the fight is not very hard at all.....

Or retreat across the bridge befre any spiders attack you, forcing him to fow you to a place where there aren't spiders.

I personally was impressed by this. This is the first time I've ever fought spiders in a video game where they actually *acted like spiders*!

In the one place underground when facing the toughest spider area there are emissaries there.  This post should really be in the spoilers section but best ploy is to go after the emissaries first and get rid of them.

I feel ya bro. Those ****ing spiders are so gay with their web **** skills. Well, without those webs immobilizing you they would be useless anyway and they would be so much easier to kill.

Let the spiders and the emissaries pick off each other first, scrapping ones who begin focusing on your party. Don't get into the thick of it right away. The best way to navigate the open deep roads is cautiously and gradually, or else you'll run into a mass of enemies that are difficult to escape from

The spiders are kind of crazy on this game. I don't find their abilities to really be the problem, what bugs me- haha, no pun intended- is when you're in the mage origin story and that first one just drops down right on your head. It made me jump and my heart skipped a beat the first time that happened to me. And I was expecting it too, that's the stupid part.

What annoys me about them is that they are so damn LOUD. Them and the damn Deepstalkers. Whenever i run across either i have to turn the volume down.

I like that spiders are actually deadly in this game, especially in a swarm. Given their size, humans are definitely within the zone of their "prey", so we're treated like prey. They find no qualms in pouncing ontop of us to subdue and forcing a teammate to cast a stun (I still remember the first time I had alistair shield bash a spider off my main character).

Maybe force cage the emissary, rape the spiders and then the emissary problem solved no ?  Posted Image

Hmm, reading this post and comparing it with whine posts about how underpowered shapeshifting (includes spider) is... strange.

Apart from that, these are the first spiders, who really give me creeps. Especially, when they come from above...

My suggestion about the emissiary: Use paralyze or crushing prison on him, take care of the spiders, freeze some with CC and similar spells. Should be able to take care of them that way.

If only the spider morph of a shapeshifter could have some spiderling minions.. hehe. Those were fun in the BfmE expansion, RotWK.

Now, adding to what was mentioned above, there is nothing in this game that cannot be countered and in lots of different ways too. Can't learn them all in one playthrough only, I'd say.
