I think your suggestion on the matter that was previously suggested of having one background option being NO background is still a perfectly valid solution. You can just be an elf, dwarf or human who just showed up to the party with no background at all (or, at least, no game-defined background).

That is fine as long as the world notices the difference on which race and class you play and acts accordingly.

All six of those busts look quite good. Also good to know we'll get female dwarves in DA:I(though with playable races announced it was a given) after their complete absence from 2.

Sometimes I feel like the only one who liked the style elves had in DA2, but a halfway version probably makes more people happy.  Anyhoo, great to finally see!  (And I have something more to work with where fanart is concerned.)

I wonder...why was the background thing taken out entirely?

I'm glad that multiple races are back, but why take out the backgrounds completely? Or is Inquisition simply going back to the Origins model where each race/class combo constitutes it's own origin?

Yeah I HATED the way elves looked in DA2 and was fine with them in DAO, so I'm glad they're aiming for a 50/50 meet up point between the two.

I actually didn't try playing as a non-human Warden until recently, but I'm enjoying playing as a Dalish Elf right now and I have friends that play exclusively as Elves, so I'm truly delighted that BioWare was able to implement playable races after all!
