"You aren't taking orders from the mages or running errands for royalty; this independence allows players to shape the vlaues of the Inquisition and align it with whatever groups they wish."

Oh I do hope so! I can't wait to have my own persornal army of mage-hunters.

"Thou shalt not suffer a mage to live!"

Canticle of the Inquisitor, Stanza 1, verse 1.

I'm also very optimistic that we will see the Warden and Hawke this time around given the races confirmation.

For me that optimism came from where the article states: 'High-ranking mages, soldiers, and other socially significant individuals contribute their talents to your cause'. It also mentioned the Grey Wardens will be involved in the inquisition.

Are you saying we can play an elf or a dwarf in DAI for single player?

This does sound a lot more interesting than the two previous games.

Bioware can have my firstborn for this game. No, not even for the game just for this information about the game.

By the way, is Vivienne a human or an elf? The silly mage hat covers the ears.

Mountable mabari hounds? Mountable...*gasp* dragons!? Posted Image

So, it'd be cool if we got to select or unlock a mount, and have our choice of mount. If not I could see:

Human: Horse
Elf: Halla
Dwarf: Bronto
Not yet confirmed kossith/quniari: do they have something to ride?

other cool options would be tervinter elephants, a drake or dragon, mabari mount for dwarf lol, etc

I honestly don't know who I wish to ally with (especially now considering we don't know any factions). The first thing I want to create is an elven mage (dalish if possible). While it is tempting to just hunt down templars (so tempting), I want a cunning and shrewd inquisitor. :bandit:

If it is possible to ally with elves, both city and dalish, that would be a bonus.

"sigh" I'd rather have multiple backgrounds.
There should, at the very least, be some difference where our character comes from. I find it hard to believe an elven mage would have the same background of a human warrior.

I don't really agree. Having a stereotypical background was never realistic to begin with.

For example, in the United States at least, just because someone is asian or black doesn't mean they have a certain accent or certain background.

The world is not stereotypically blended as pop culture wants you to believe. Even 1000's of years before, the world was more culturally blended than that with Gauls passing themselves as Romans in either secrecy or openly all the time.

I hope they dont make certain character's a necessity to my gameplay experience, for example Cortez & Traynor. I'd like to have a little bit of agency as far as my party is concerned, You could even make a penalty to available content by keeping certain people out, just let me choose who I keep around my party or In it.

Private army, eh? An army outside heaven & hell, where soldiers fight not for country, not for government, but for themselves. Outer Heaven.

I'm extremely happy to learn that we are not only encouraged, but pretty much forced to explore the world in order to advance the game. Exploration is my favourite thing in open-world RPGs and MMORPGs. A big thank you to Mark Darrah and the rest of the team for pushing this!

1:15 of the video. Part of the map. This will probably show the geographical limits of the game. This is pretty much the same map than the one Cassandra killed.

My guess would be its simialr to the Origins in DA:O, where you pick Dalish Elf or City Elf, and each one has a little blurb about what it means. Only this time, our blrub will be slightly longer and have more nuances.

I'm not sure I'm reading this right. It sounds like the race selection is replacing background selection, but it also sounds like background selection is being replaced by something more nuanced.
Are selectable backgrounds out entirely?

Yes, selectable backgrounds are out entirely. Seeing as we never went into detail as to what that entailed, it shouldn't be a hardship-- what exists now is race/class choice, and reactivity to that, with some added nuance I mentioned but won't get into (but which also provides reactivity).

Does that mean no playable prologues?

I'm happy with the race selection, like ****** my pants happy, but a backround, even if it's literally 1 minute of gameplay, would be appriciated. Some way to show how our protagonist gets involved.

I get the feeling that the Dalish won't be playable this time, because of the voice acting and the Welsh accents. :P
My theory is that they have a consistent voice with each race, thus making the elf be a City Elf by default. That's just my idea of how it is gonna work, unless they do intent to employ various actors for the races.

Love what I see so far! I'd have preferred all the time spent on multiple races have been spent on something else, but I'm sure as heck not going to complain about getting to play an elf again. I think the pre-alpha graphics are already great. Look forward to seeing what kind of stories they can tell. High hopes for this one! Hopefully the shift away from the fun explodey combat of DA2 doesn't mean a return to the boring ass numbers crunch of the BG games, and the idea of tailored armor means we don't look like Clownenstein by mid game.

Love it so far!
