The issue wasn't that it affected SP at all. The issue was it prohibited players from achieving certain endings. It wouldn't be such a problem as long as it didn't interfere with the main storyline.Beerfish wrote...
People had a HUGE issue with it. And in the future will have a HUGE issue with it. There are a good number of people that do not like MP and worse yet would hate it all the more if they feel they have to play it to get the optimum sp result. It's just a bad idea. I stand by my original post. MP = good, making it affect SP = very bad.

Not sure if you are fully understanding what I am saying. If you do understand, then we can agree to disagree. While I do agree that it would be horrendous for MP to be required in order to sufficiently progress through SP, I disagree that any form of reward for playing MP, should it be a part of the game, be bad for the game. There aren't any tangible downsides to MP having a positive effect on the SP, so long as those benefits are completely optional, and can still be obtained in the SP, as opposed to how ME3 handled it early on.Beerfish wrote...

I don't think anyone had issue with it, nor was MP affecting SP in ME3 a bad thing at all. It was the manner in which it was implemented. The Galactic Readiness rating, specifically. In order to maximize forces, you needed to raise your Galactic Readiness percentages across all sectors, and this could only be done in MP. You know how it goes. And that was the main problem, not that MP affected SP, but that it was required in order to get any form of a "good" ending. Eventually, I believe they fixed the system so that you could get a sufficient fighting force at end-game without ever touching MP, but until that fix it left anyone who couldn't play MP, or didn't want to, without any way of choosing their own impact on the final act.
So, if I can positively affect my SP campaign by playing MP, then by all means it should probably be done. It gives players incentive to play the MP. However, it should not be required to play MP in order to sufficiently affect the SP campaign. Let the benefit of MP be there, but also allow purely SP players to sufficiently progress their games without having to play MP.
Should people not like MP or can't play it for whatever reason, the benefits for playing it being optional should be of no issue. As long as the content can be accessed by purely playing SP.

Nice horse, doesn't look like there will be mounted combat. I'm basing that assumption on the the UI to the bottom right.
If this is the case than I beg Bioware to do one thing. Please, please, PLEASE, make the horse immortal and neutral during fights. Don't have it attack dragons or run away in terror because there's one genlock. Just let me dismount and then when I come back, my horse is where I left it.
Please do this bioware. It was so annoying in skyrim my horse ran off a cliff to try and kill a dragon.

If MP does, in any way, affect SP, there needs to be a way to disable that.

Wow ! Multiple races back ? This... This is just... I can't find the words. I...I.. feel like the fanatic fanboy I was before DAII, that's frightening lol.
Well done, that was a STRIKE in our faces ! I was fine with only a human but there's nothing more symbolic than this measure from DAO to prove that they have listened to their fans, something that many loved as an option in this beautiful game. A tough measure that could only result from a fierce determination despite the investment to provide. This is truly symbolic !
How many months, how many times I've read on this board and everywhere else, " Bioware won't ever return to multiple races again or at least in the next game, because of EA, because of money, because too much work, because of voice acting, etc, "
So really, it's true ? Despite a PC voiced, we'll get multiple playable races ? For the love of god I still can't believe it ! Ha ha ! * PAF * this is a BIG lesson to all pessimistic analysts on this board XD !
It will take me some times to regain my senses to be honest... ( And I didn't read yet the other news lol, And I won't, it's already too much for my poor heart today ! )
Bioware has almost won my heart with that feature. Bravo. Needs to watch this as well, and I have some questions in my mind about how it will work. But, I don't even want to think more about it, I just want to enjoy this new. Multiple races again ! Yip yip hurray !

Or at least give us the chance to whistle to the horse... instead of wandering through the snowy wastes, calling "Here, horsey horsey!!" to our TV's after every battle.

I would like to see that kind of an option, that way people who want to play MP, but don't want it affecting their SP campaign, can play MP freely and leave the Inquisition building solely to SP activities.Sylvius the Mad wrote...

What he's getting at, to my understanding, is not that bonus stuff isn't good, but rather people want that kind of stuff confined to playing the SP campaign, while still being able to play MP (or not play it, whatever floats your boat).Lord Aesir wrote...

I assume you can buy Game Informer where you can buy most gaming magazines .
Been years since I bought one.
The elves look 100 % better than they did in DA2.
The female dwarves look too human.
Their faces should be broader and flatter.
Looks good though.

It's just another means to an end.
If you are given the choice of taking path a or b to an end are you going to be upset that there is another path that exsist to contrast the path you took?
Is having more options really a bad thing?

At first it sounds interesting, but then I think back to ME3 where gathering Galactic Readiness was resumed to going to a planet and clicking a button. Should we fear that this is how it will work in DAI. Will we have a map of Thedas where we are told things are happening but we can't actually go there? We'll just press a button and complete the objective offscreen?

Think for a moment and don't over react to it.
If mp is not required for any result and you can get the full experience of the sp game with out touching it, how is it a problem?
