I don't expect we'll ever see Merrill or Fenris again. I'm not sure they could survive the transformation (poor Zevran is already scarred for life).

Maybe they'll at least get shoes this time.

It violates world coherence.  Where did these items come from?

Where do any items come from?  The game is not real, you know.

Not that I support multiplayer giving single player items.  I actually support the opposite.  I want my single player character, that I built and planned and did long quest chains with to get rare items, to affect my multiplayer experience.  I want to take my max-level, tricked out Inquisitor into some sort of arena and have my effort in the single player campaign rewarded.

I think one of the better ideas I've read around here for ways that multiplayer could affect single player is ambiently.  Using the "war effort" setting from ME3, depending on how much multiplayer you played, ambient NPC dialog would either be more or less optimistic.  Maybe there would be more or less refugees hanging around.  Maybe a bard sings a different song in a tavern.

I'm very pleased with the look of the elves and dwarfs. MUCH better then the last two games.

Elves look solid. A nice fusion of the two games' designs.

Eh. They look even more Tolkien-esque to me. Whatever, I'm sure I can just mod 'em to look like DA2 elves again - I liked that design, the faces were at least different. Didn't like how anorexic them became though, so I hope DA:I changes that.

Male elf still looks kinda goofy.  But otherwise agreed.

I just hope any elves from DAO brought into DA:I will look more like their DAO selves than they might have in DA2(ohh Zevran, what happened to you).

Not quite enough of a description for it I'm afraid to say.

Also, Alistair. Not an elf, but almost as bad a transition. Yikes.

These character models are a million times better than what we saw in DA2. The new info seems promising as well. Thought I'd never say that.

Alistair just got stung by a bee. He didn't really change, but the new lighting filled him out in all the wrong ways.

I think Zevran is a lost cause, but I'm more sad that Fenris and Merrill would possibly be unrecognizable (or just as bad as Zevran's change from Origins to DA2). They were the only elves who really looked good in DA2, and I'm not sure their faces could support the new style.

Whoa! Just got home from work and discovered this thread.
And just like that they fixed my one real disappointment in DAI - multiple races.
Horses, weather, tactics, focus on exploration... sweet!

Hey everyone, its EA. Lets thank him for giving Bioware more time to do all the right things.

*begins slow clap*

EA didn't do anything except realize turning Bioware into an assembly line doesn't work.  I think this is just EA going...oh wait, you guys *did* already know what you were doing and rushing and streamlining everything *doesn't* actually make more money.  It just makes people who expect quality mad.

^what was done there whizzed right over your head, :P

Probably so.  I'm pretty literal and dense.

I think I'd rather Zevran and Merrill stay out, but if they show up and are handled well, I'm cool with that.

[*]Part of that is slowing down speed of attacks, more important is designing enemies that force you to examine the battlefield and choose actions carefully

[*]PC gamers getting an optimized version; “PC actually is different, especially from a controls standpoint”, trying to “recapture the very tailored experience of DA:O on PC”

[*]Monsters, and dragons for example, do not level up with you. Some are vastly more powerful, forcing you to come back later with proper experience

[*]A lot of loose ends will be resolved in the story; expect full resolutions to things like Red Lyrium, the activities of the Grey Wardens, and Flemeth, and also Morrigan

So  the promises here are:
1)race choices
2) dangling plot threads from the previous games will be addressed
3)no crappy console port
4) No lazy level scaling
We'll see.  Personally if even half of this is true, Then this article as just  called me back to the franchise.

Damn it to hell! We get horses?? Alistair is a possible companion and Varric is a definite?? Eek!!

I will not preorder this game...I will not preorder this game...

Maybe if I repeat it enough, I'll do like I know I should and wait until I know whether or not the ending sucks!

Stop getting my hopes up, Bioware! It's just plain mean! :-P

Alistair? When did Alistair come into this?

Hmm. I was responding to a post that listed the companions and showed Alistair and Cullen as "possible" companions (with Vivienne, Varric, and Cassandra as definites) but now I can't find the damned thing. So it was either edited or deleted.

Some minor questions:

since there will be no level scaling....will be able to run away from combat if the going gets too tough?

New engine... Do we still have characters wearing collars etc to hide the join between the body and head?

I'm hoping that Merrill makes an appearance to be honest (after all, she was dealing with an eluvian). I'm sure the transition would be fine since it's between the DA:O and DAII styles. Maybe it's just me but Merrill's DAII look almost similar to that of the female elf featured in the GI. The differences are subtle at best (the nose is not so na'vi-like and the ears are not like a donkey as it was in DAII). I think the biggest difference would be the shape of the face; the new elven design is much more angular than before.

^ Day 1 DLC

Which makes me wonder...

Will the companions have different mounts? I can't imagine the "Iron Bull" riding a pony...no wait I just did

I think justice demands that Shale be in the game, and that David give her something awfully clever to say when the Inquisitor suggests she carry him for a while.
