Props, I didn't even think of that.

Human surname. Elf and Dwarf were raised by Humans. Also would explain singular VO/accent.Frozenkex wrote...
and how do you suggest they do that, given that you can pick 3 different races? Or PC of all 3 races should have same surname? That doesnt seem right to me.

The-race-that-makes-up-the-majority-of-the-Qunari-but-we-can't-call-"kossith" seem like they might be able to be added in, a "yes or no" wasn't really given, it was more of a "the three are definite, not sure if we're doing qunari". It sounded like it may be something they will work on if they have time.PsychoBlonde wrote...

Yes, selectable backgrounds are out entirely. Seeing as we never went into detail as to what that entailed, it shouldn't be a hardship-- what exists now is race/class choice, and reactivity to that, with some added nuance I mentioned but won't get into (but which also provides reactivity).
It sounds like it will be a LOT like Origins, then, since your race/class largely determined your Origin--and did entirely if you chose to play human.
Is there the slightest possibility there may be other race options besides human/elf/dwarf?

It wasn't optional in ME3. The Galactic Readiness rating required playing MP in order to raise it. Without a high Galactic Readiness rating, you could have every single War Asset available in SP and not get the "ideal" ending.
That's something that needs to be avoided at all costs in any future game that contains a MP element that can affect the SP.

Not true. I didn't play MP at all and got the "ideal" ending. MP was not required at all, it was just a simple way of supplementing sidequests in SP. I did all the sidequests in ME3 and got the perfect endings.

I wonder how the horses will work. Oblivion tried that a few years ago and IMO it wasn't a resounding success because of control issues. It#s really nice to see it attempted again, though. I hope it will work better in DAI.

Why can't people just not play it if they don't like it. Really , it's just that simple. If you don't play it does not effect your game.LPPrince wrote...

Guys, the subject is getting a little off topic. But what he means is the "ideal ending" is the High EMS Destroy that has Shepard taking a breath after the credits.
That initially required 5,000 total EMS to achieve- which was impossible without multiplayer.
They lowered that via the Extended Cut DLC I believe to 4,100, which is achievable without multiplayer. Also, DLC releases like Leviathan and Omega added significant amounts to EMS, making multiplayer even less of a necessity for players that skip some content.
All that said, I'd hope Bioware does NOT include any sort of multiplayer into DA:I. Or if they do, they put it on a separate disk. If thats too costly, instead have people purchase the single player game and have that come with a download for a multiplayer mode only acquired by purchasing the main game, or purchased separately for a lower price.
Huh. That just came out of my head right now and I kinda like that idea if it keeps SP and MP separated.

I'm guessing you don't own a current gen console?

Don't care. I think the main focus should be the make the game as good as possible overall and not the make people who spend more money on new/higher end systems feel justified in their purchase. And yes, I've preordered a PS4. If they *can* make the next gen version shinier without having to divert lots of resources to do so, it's fine, but it should be much lower on their pirority list than general story/character/combat/lore development.
This has nothing to do with making the game "shinier" or just have prettier visuals. There is a fundamental, enormous advantage that the next gen consoles can leverage over a PS3 or 360. That is why developers like CD Projekt RED are only releasing Witcher 3 on PS4/Xbox One and PC. The technical limitations of old hardware will limit what scope devs can carry out for their vision of their games. This is not an opinion, it's fact.
The size and scope of the world, interactivity within that world, amount of quests/amount of dialogue, the dynamism of the world and the quests themselves, etc will no doubt be restricted to what the 360/PS3 can handle, so players will get the same experience across all platforms. It's nothing personal, this is just the reality of the situation.

This means one of two things.
Either there are no set backgrounds at all (Blank Slate character), or each race&class combination has a pre-written background we can't change.
We all know which one I would prefer.

Yes, but Bioware is likely to do fixed backgrounds for each.
You realize most early games on new consoles are usualy full of glitches and poorly optimized because the devs haven't had the time to get familiar with the new hardware right?shinobi602 wrote...

There is a limit to how much "efficiency" developers can get from 7-8 year old hardware. They can't just pull performance out of their rear. This is the reason why developer like CDPR are foregoing current gen systems altogether and making Witcher 3 a next gen exclusive. There comes a point where experience with these systems will amount to almost insignificant advancements.

Gah, I hated the horses with a passion in that game. Fricken rattlesnake would kill them in one hit, I always accidentally shoot them when firing my rifle, and they would always run off once I dismount.
BTW....
Will companions be able to use mounts as well? I hated how none my followers could use one in Skyrim.
