Yes. I often find animal deaths in literature sadder and more emotionally touching than humans.

I am Legend, Game of Thrones, Borderlands 2. I'm sure there are more.

But I don't really understand why.

In some kind of scripted "death of Agro" event this could be a good story element.  But having horses dying left, right, and center due to bad AI like in Skyrim is just frustrating in a completely non good way.

Great, you guys HAD to discuss how sad it would be right in front of the writer that likes to crush people's souls.

That horse is as good as dead.

I tried my hardest to shoot people off their horses without shooting the horse itself.

Scoring the occasional accidental horse brain-shot took a piece of my soul.

Yea, they were also extremely easy to replace in Red Dead.

They have those big horns to hang on to.

And I'm sure the Qun must say something about endurance.

Maybe that's why they're only showing the qunari guy from behind—because the Inquisitor's getting ready to climb up on his back and charge off into the unknown.
