Can you imagine how emotional it would be if your horse was riddled with arrows while carrying you to safety before dying?

So people would feel bad if their horse died, huh?

Interesting.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS

So now we HAVE to fight the Chantry and we get a very pro-mage companion to start and no one to give the pro Templar view?

This game is fail and I will not waste my money on it, I hope you pro-mage fans are happy your whining has worked congrats.

Biowear have some gore-an faith your story don't some internet extremist fans push you around. Do you own thing.

What pro-mage companion? Cassandra is a chantry loyalists, Varric considered himself neutral in DA2 and this Vivienne women are pro-Circle, as in, wants the circles to continue, so pretty much pro-templars.

Chanrty loyalist is anti-templar, given the traitor Devines actions.

Are you sure that's what they mean? I thought they had her as a pro-mage, also where did you get that?

I guess that is an equally valid interpretation. We might need more info before we can pin here down. And according to the wiki Casandra harbors "a hatred for all mages - maleficar or not".

Its very clear when reading the article (by examples they give) that what they meant by "Pro-circle" is actually "Pro-mage." They give the example of  if you think all mages are dangerous and going to erupt violently then you may not get along well with Vivienne.

Ok, thanks.

I hope they will talk about the tone of the game and its story at some point during this coverage. DA2 had a tendency to become too lighthearted to my taste.

Lighthearted? A qunari invasion followed by the templar/mage conflict ripping the city apart, and you in the middle of it? Family members dying from darkspawn, murdered or being taken away?

If that's your idea of lighthearted, I don't want to you see your "dark". In ME3, I often felt as if everything was going to hell in a basket. I don't want to feel that way in DAI.

I need to stress that I am talking about the tone. Not what actually happens, because sure there is some tragic stuff going on, but it was all left with little emotional impact because of the overall tone of the game. Most of the companions would go around telling jokes or behave in a comedic kind of way. The art was very uplifting, bright and even straight up ridiculous with oversized weapons. The music was also very lighthearted. And the combat was pretty silly to look at. It is kind of like the movie Jumanji. Everytime something might have been a little scary it is quickly followed by something that lightens up the mood.

So that is what I would like some information on, in regards to how that will be in the next game.

Ah, I see. I agree that DA2 almost felt like a parody at times, especially in combat and while listening to some of the companion banter.

Yes, I'd like that to change. Making light of things can be a viable coping mechanism, but it should be used rarely and not be so prevalent as to make a parody of the story.

No problem. Though it is obviously still unclear which mage fraternity she favors. She may very well be ok with the Circle concept. My guess is even though the Seekers (or at least some of them) have separated from the Chantry officially, Cassandra still holds true to her ideals and would be providing the "pro-templar" if you will viewpoint as far as your party is concerned. Not to mention that Cullen fellow.... ;)

Question about horses/malibari:

Are we going to see them more like DA:O where they are their own companion, or DA 2 where it is just a "summon pet" power?

I personally hope it is a combination of the two; I really enjoyed being able to level up and customize my dog in Origins, but didn't like how it would take up a companion slot.

I would be very cross with them.

I'd likely manipulate them into sitting down with me while I give them a firm argument as to WHY THIS IS NOT OKAY

My feels, my poor poor feels. Bioware make me HAPPY, MAKE ME HAPPY IN THE FACE AGAIN

The return of Elves and Dwarfs - Thank you Andruil!

And we get horses!!!

I feel like Bioware has just admitted that DA 2 was a giant mistake and they are trying to go back to awesomness of DA:O

Thank you for adding multiple races. I loved the Dalish origin in DA:O. Mostly because I could annoy the chantry. But a quick question, will the weather events be scripted into the story or appear randomly as part of exploration?

Coming home from a business trip and I have to find out I missed sooo much info, awesome.

The return of racial choices is just "yeah", a huge "thank you" to you devs! I really missed the opportunity to play as dwarf.

Mounts, well, could be great or not so. They are difficult to implement properly.

What I'm interested most though is the crafting part. So we are able to collect materials (say claws, pelts,...) from enemies and craft armor/weapons with them or upgrade what we have? Does that mean the enemies, which gladly don't level-scale, respawn ? Or just some of them?

Seriously though, yes to NG+.

DA has yet to have it. I'd like to run through the game again with the same character, with all their skill points available for reallocation, their level carrying over, gear, etc etc

Worked in Mass, would work for me in DA.

And if we can't have NG+, I'd at the very least like the capability to save my character's appearances, so that I can reuse them later if I wish.

I can see people being more sad for the death of their horse than for Hawke's mother...XD

I will surely be! I have cryed when seeing the horse's death in Versailles no bara. Didn't cryed for Andrè, I cryed for the horse. Yes. I was a strange kid.

On a happier, non-horse death related note, I have been over the moon about race choices returning all day.

I fully understood that there were reasons we could only play human in DA2, and I'd resigned myself to never playing a dwarf again. Since only 5% of players ever did that in DAO, I couldn't blame BioWare for deciding to direct their zots somewhere else, no matter how much I loved my dwarf Wardens. So it's a glorious surprise to have it back. The extra development time is well worth it just for that, in my opinion, although of course the mounts and whatever else is going to be added will be nifty, too. (As long as all the horses/brontos/halla/mabari/sparkling alicorns live through the game.) The footage and screen shots look fabulous, especially given that this is pre-alpha!

Also: do we know if Vivienne is a human or an elf yet? (I guess we can't rule out her being a tall mutant dwarf, either ...)

I feel you. My very first playthrough of DA:O was with a Dwarf. Somehow, the prologue as a Noble Dwarf in Orzammar was so much better than the other origins IMO. And when I had to return to Orzammar in the main quest, it was so cool to be back, instead of being totally new to that environment.

I'm just gonna say that the faint possibility of losing my potential horse in a game that is far from finished is already affecting me more emotionally than all the respective deaths of certain player character's family members in previous games. Which could be considered an improvement in the forced emotional response department, I guess, but seriously:

Please don't kill my horse, you monsters! Posted Image Focus on the happy things! Posted Image

Vivienne's description makes me think she might be a Loyalist, which would make her very pro-Chantry.

Im pretty excited about the possibility to pick my race again. I loved the dalish elf origin and the royal human origin. Now if they get a story mission in the beginning like DAO then im good.
