I´m cautiously optimistic about the game after seeing this thread. Cassandra needs to be murder-knifed though.

Hope you all enjoy this little nugget of news :)

Dude, I haven't even gotten my issue yet (will be excitedly checking my mailbox after work today)... but just reading the confirmations in this thread has already made me beyond excited for next year!!!

Is it STILL too early to preorder at GameStop? I keep asking, and they keep saying "too early". LOL

I'm not sure when the preorder's will be up, but it makes me happy you're excited :)

Your not the only one excited. I look to make sure DAI hasnt gone on sale every few hours (sad I know). I myself am hoping for that Collectors Edition I hope is announced lol.

Maybe CE will be announced in one of the last exclusive news on GI or they will do it in december as part of their "Christmas gift" for us.

I was just looking at some screen shots, and I REALLY hope the elves do not look as alien, scrawny and misshaped like they did in DA2. A happy medium between DAO and DA2 would work for me :)

Just waiting to see good ol' Oghren again. =)
Isn't he suppose to be a Grey Warden General or something?

Only if you let him join Grey Wardens in Awekening... but if you did as me and dont agree him to join your ranks then  he shoudn't be with them.

Oeh! I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! *squee*

Love how the horse moves and the animation overall (epic sauce anyone?) Concept art also seems pretty promising!

I had to keep telling myself through the August 7th update video, 'remember what happened before... expect lies...'

With that said, I really liked what I saw and hope that what they were saying (especially about the organization building) turns out like I believe they want it to.

So where do little horses come from then? Kind of a rhetorical question as I thought the devs (incl. Gaider) has previously said that the griffons ate all the horses in Thedas or was it Ferelden? Or maybe I'm just remembering it wrong?

Anyway, more on topic ;) : It is indeed great news that the ability to play three, maybe four, different races in DA: Inq, is back. I liked playing a Dalish elf in DA: Origins myself. I also liked playing Hawke in DA2; clearly it was rushed and all and 1-1½ year more development time, they could have the game better. No doubt about it. The socalled reused environments didn't bother me that much, what did bother me, though was the wave combat. [That and Epler's fantastic 3D show when using spells made it really, really difficult to see what was going on]. And one thing has always bothered in every rpg, not just Bioware's: Level bosses, see the level 1 boss, the Rock Monster in DA2's Deep Roads. 3 times......3 tries it took to defeat this monster of a rock. Not fun, especially not after having just being able to slay nearly all enemies (very) easily.

PS: a bit off topic, but I personally know of 1-2 players who has given up on Mass Effect 3, since it features a lone Shepard against a Cerberus-bot? or possibly a Reaper? as the end level boss for that particular level (not to dicuss ME3 here, this is just pure info and added perspective on my part). Perspective meaning, I do hope there is no such thing in DA: Inq.

Well, I can honestly say that am excited about this month. I only hope that we go into the mechanics of the game and not so much as the story of the game. As much as I want to know more about what is happening in Thedas I want it to be a surprise as much as possible. So, yea, can't wait. Also am happy to play as an elf again, but I don't why don't really care about being a drawf. Just saying

So the inquisitor is a "sole survivor" huh? Huh.

I like the part about the importance of agency. Of course it doesn't mean much on its own, and a cynical person could see pandering if they want (in pretty much any comment made by the devs anywhere :P), but if they can actually do it...

You better steer clear of my woman, bro. Or you'll find yourself in a Qunari prison, doing stuff that'll fuel years of mental anguish.

In my personal opinion, player agency extends far beyond "plot choices". The fact that they're allowing the player to choose his race already proves their claim that this game will be focussed on giving the player back his agency.

So... put me with this new crowd of "now cautiously optimistic" peeps.

I'm pretty excited about a game that basically sounds like it'll be a next gen DA:O with PC VO, because that would be my ideal mix of DA2 and DA:O.

This is all great news for DA:I, especially the return of playable races. It's like a Christmas wish list of things we've asked for over the years.

You want playable races? Boom, they're back. Horses? Got those too. Exploration, non-scaled enemies, pro-mage standpoint? All in, you're welcome.

Bioware is amazing.

There are a number of youtube videos discussing the game informer info.
I watched Lady Insanity's video and it was very well done.
I love her voice too, Bioware should hire her as a VA.
So check it out.
I admit I didn't there would be mount.
I thought they lacked experience working with the Frostbite 3 engine to achieve it.
Happy I was wrong.
Whether mp will come in as horse racing is a possibility I guess.Glad old Frank Gibeau gave them permission to delay the game's release.

Are you saying we can play an elf or a dwarf in DAI for single player?

Yes.

Woah, that is a huge surprise for me. I was completely convinced that we'd be limited to one race again.

But i always play human anyway, lol. Origins are more important to me.

This makes me wonder whether there've been any changes to the the origins also - will they be playable now, will there be more to allow variety for different races?

The race/class selection replaces the plans for different backgrounds we'd mentioned earlier. There's slightly more nuance to it, but it's not quite the same thing.

Ow. I'm in the minority, but Origins are so much more important to me than race.

Damn.

So if we are going to ride a horse to explore the world ? Will it be the same for our companions for example behind us upon their own horses or will they suddenly disappear, leaving the PC alone ?
