"With DAI we're pushing all five platforms as far as we can" - what does that mean?

May I ask for clarification on this quote from the GameInformer video? Because as I see it, that can only be achieved if some features are enabled or disabled based on the platform you're playing on.

Will DAI look and play different depending on the platform? I think the technological difference between the older platforms like the 360 and the next-gen consoles and the PC is too big to use the lowest common denominator for all platforms, but what - apart from graphics - would be different?

I'm pretty sure it means graphics. Maybe more clutter/pedestrians in the next-gen/PC versions too.

Nothing. That's a pretty generic marketing-type statement, although I'm sure it's true. It just means they're going to make the game look as good as they possibly can, which of course will vary slightly from platform to platform. It's probably safe to say the PC will have a slightly expanded control scheme due to the keyboard/mouse setup, but I don't think there will be any real mechanical or in-game difference between the versions (aside from, on PS4, you press Square, on XB1 you press Y, etc).

While I'm sure the game can push the 360 and PS3 to their limits, it's quite unlikely to do the same for the Xbox One and PS4 versions this soon in the console generation. For all intents and purposes BioWare has been developing for incomplete hardware for quite some time, with limited understanding of the systems. Just a few days ago Microsoft upped the GPU speed of the Xbox One and reoptimized the graphics driver. Things are still up in the air for these consoles.

Given how Frostbite seems to scale pretty well and could render rather big maps on Battlefield 3 even on old consoles (though with way less players on them than PC), the biggest difference would probably texture resolution, graphic effects, and number of NPCs visible at any one time (probably achieved by different maximum distances at which NPCs are rendered).

I am hoping it means that the game will play better on the new consoles and also on PC and also will look better.

Jep.

Best to wait for actual comparison screenshots/movies before we jump to any conclusions.
