Yeah, I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Alistair might be a companion? I read the entire article, but nowhere does it mention that or hint at it. Cullen is almost certain since they mention a certain popular Knight-Captain is poised to make a comeback.
I totally could see our Inquisitors paying a visit to whoever is ruling in Ferelden in order to try to get him/her on board with our plans and get his/her support whether that be by lending soldiers or some other form of aid, but I am not convinced that this means the ruler would become a companion. Even though Alistair would probably happily drop everything to go on more adventures, he also is very concerned about his duty to Ferelden. So, if he hasn't sired an heir, then I'm not sure how he'd justify abdicating the throne.
Grey Warden Alistair might be more likely, but there's no mention of that in the article, either.
