 I'm ok with Varric being there; it certainly makes sense for Cassandra to be involved, and considering how DA2 ended it makes sense for Varric to tag along.

Now that we know about Vivienne, I wonder if she is a replacement for that Nevarran lady scribe character concept that was leaked a while back? I figured she was a mage, and it wouldn't seem to make sense to have two female human mages again, would it?

Lol, that's a confirmed -1 party member for me. No way she is staying. 

harsh decision - i mean i don't like her attitude towards mages (my PC is a mage most of the time) and that she follows the chantry/the divine like a lost puppy (hell she is just another version of Leliana with a past worse then the later), but i don't think i will cut her lose just like that (i will try my hand at reforming her or breaking her of her crap the hard way if i have to!)

as for the others:

a female mage? - nice (had hope for Morrigan or someone similar - remember they say Flemeth had many daughters - and/or a Tevinter Magistress )

Cullen? - him i don't like much either (will probably not take him along often!)...he will hate me anyhow (i am a mage remember!)

As for Varric? - Yeah, i like him

Her father was Orlesian, but fled to Ferelden, where as far as I know, Aveline was born and raised.  She certainly identifies herself as  Ferelden.

You could *stab* her in Witch Hunt (with the text "Kill her") but there is no evidence that she actually died. She just fell through the mirror. 

I have a feeling that if you chose that option that she won't be on the best of terms with the world, or with your Warden.

Can you imagine if that was a OGB saved file and the son saw his mother stumble through the mirror stabbed...ouch! haha

Leliana was a Ferelden raised in Orlais. Aveline was an Orlesian raised in Ferelden. Since they both had red hair, either of them could be considered a "red headed Orlesian," but I think both of them seem to identify as being Ferelden. Leliana seems like she'd be more relevant to the plot of Inquisition but Aveline is also unable to be killed.

Cullen (likely) - human male sword and shield warrior

Sera (rumored - survey) - elf female rogue (?)
Iron Bull (rumored - survey) - qunari male warrior (two handed?)
Cole (rumored - survey) - ?
A Grey Warden (rumored - survey) - male human sword and shield?

Does this seem right? Am I missing anything?

Check the GI screenshots, Cassandra is using a two-handed sword.

Unlikely a ghost or spirit could be a party member.
This will make some people unhappy, but I still expect Tallis to be a party member.

I never read the book either, so I'm not sure if that is a spoiler. I'll change it just in case, but I thought it was pretty much common knowledge.

Also, Justice was a spirit, right? So I don't think it's ruled out.

I like Cassandra very much and want her as a companion, but no Cullen better to introduce us a new character instead of him. I would love to see Sigrun, and Velanna back as companions again but it is unlikely.

I'm okay with Cullen since we've never had him in the party before. I think we could learn something interesting about his background. I'm also okay (more than okay, actually) with Cassandra because she seems like she will have some awesome character development.

I'm not thrilled with Varric returning, to be honest. While I love dwarves and vastly preferred Varric over Oghren, I would like to see someone new instead of him. I feel like we learned a lot about him in DA2 and he was pretty important to the plot with Hawke.

I'm not a fan of returning character if they were already in the party in another game. For instance, I hated that Oghren was DA:A. Just seemed lazy since he wasn't really necessary for that story and didn't bring much to it that a newly designed character could not have. While Anders was pretty crucial to the plot of DA2, again, a new character could have done the same thing. However, Merrill and Isabella, neither of whom were party members in the past games (outside of about 30 mins of game time in the Dalish origin), I was good with them as party members.

If the 10 companions rumour from a while back is true then I hope we will be able to create a whole team of rogues/warriors/mages. *fingers crossed*

It will only be a matter of time before Cullen is revealed as a companion (and absolutely no one will be surprised). I suspect he will be a sword and shield warrior (templar specialisation obviously).

No, Cole is not dead... i mean at the end of Asunder he probably killed Lambert but can't confirm it too.

I still wish for some news that we can have companions from last book, I know its just my dream but I still would love to have Evangeline.

Justice was in a body, either one already dead or Anders.
Thought Awakening was unrealistic .
Has anyone ever heard of the Body Farm ?
It's run by UT Anthropology and they study decaying bodies.
Doubt the body Justice inhabited in Awakening would have hung together that long.
shrugs. More homework for Gaider . rotfl.
Gaider says Justice may return at some point but hints it won't be with Anders.
So if a spirit/ghost is a party member it has to presumably be in an already dead body that may fall apart or possess another live body.
Not in favor of going through that again.

I don't care about any of those outside of Alistair and Leliana and I'm a bit sad that Morrigan won't be a companion again.
