No threads on the fixed elven appearance yet?

So great they ditched them for their Origins look. Yeah. I'm glad they've gone back to the superior designs. Nothing was unique about the DA2 elves. They still looked like humans just with deformities.

Oh, this is so much better. They still look exotic, but not animalistic. A very nice compromise!
(I STILL say the DA2 elves look too much like deer, cattle, sheep, and other dumb prey animals. Not good!)
Let's be honest: the elves in the Alienage quest for the Landsmeet really act like dumb prey animals. (Well, minus the ones who have actual names.)
And the one who signed off on them being rounded up, caged and sold like dumb prey animals looks like a vile, unwashed, and unmitigated villain. You're right; sometimes outsides do match insides!
(Seriously, you walked right into that one. Way to punish the entire race for one group of idiots. That's sound logic.)

I'm not saying any of them deserved it. I'm just saying they were a little credulous of the Tevinters.

Answer might be obvious (so apologies for asking) but did these images come from the GameInformer article or elsewhere?

Is it weird I actually get happy when I see people complaining about male models since female models are always under such extreme scrutiny? Haha. I don't have a problem with the jaw myself, though.MisanthropePrime wrote...
I can't say I'm a fan of the male elf's lantern jaw.
It's not "if," it's "when." Don't jinx it! ^^nedpepper wrote...
Dig it. But if Merrill pops up in a cameo...

What's ironic is that my biggest complaint about a lot of DAII's female characters was that THEY had lantern jaws- but I'm fine with effeminate looking male elves. Now they've fixed their women looking like Jay Leno in DA:I but they did that by giving the chins to the formerly glass-jawed male elves.KiddDaBeauty wrote...

I don't think DA2 Merrill would look out of place with them, really, if they've got that.
The real test is seeing a bunch of them - you can make a pretty decent looking elf with the DA2 design, the problem was that most of them looked stupid.

They look like humans with pointy ears, i thought the remake was going to be more drastic. Regardless, until we see ingame screenshots it is hard to judge how they really will look.

They look gaunt and underfed. I've yet to find the elves attractive in any iteration of Dragon Age.
Well they would, wouldn't they?

I'm glad they've tried to retain something in the middle of the two games rather than going for the full-out facelift.

It's difficult to tell from those shots, but hopefully they don't look too gorgeous. While I agree the difference in appearance for elves (and many characters) changed from DA:O to DAII and was a little jarring (mostly when seeing familiar faces... though, doesn't Isabella comment on that at some point? Clever girl) I've always appreciated the representation of elves in the Dragon Age setting. It was different and refreshing. I grow tired of the trope of elves being gorgeous, whether good or bad (same goes for the fae.) Was it Tolkien who catapulted the idea of elves being immaculately gorgeous and ultimately good? I think Terry Pratchett says it best.

I agree that elves looking distinctive is a good thing, and the DA team was right to try to make them look like more than "short, skinny humans" (although one could argue that their features were always more gaunt and pointed in the CC.)
However, I felt like the DAII elf design kind of flew in the face of all that we're told about elves being extremely attractive to humans, when so many of them were kind of repulsive. The ones that greater care was taken with (like Merrill, Fenris, Athenril) weren't so bad, but still rather alien looking. The rest were kind of awful.
