I think they established that there were no horses in Thedas. Well, at least not in Ferelden or Kirkwall.

So I require an explanation as to the sudden appearance of horses.

Horses exist in Ferelden, we just didn't see them in DA:O. A merchant in that game mentions a missing mule (mules are bred from horses), and there is conversation with the Dalish about the Halla where horses are mentioned. Also in the book Stolen Throne the Ferelden rebels have cavalry.

I think it was the single biggest feature of the reveal. The Mabari was popular, I don't see why you couldn't form a similar attachment to a horse. Level them up, gives them names etc It remains to be seen just how integrated they are into gameplay. Being able to go into combat on your horse would be pretty cool imo. There is a huge amount of design space there. And as they pointed out it is actually mounts. Could we end up flying on some rediscovered griffons?

Mo-cap horse, full fledged character.

Semi-confirmed rumour.

And lets not forget the part where Zevran comments on you looking tired and worn out and asks "you know what you need?" one of the replies is "a horse?"

And let's not forget when Oghren gets tired of walking and says, "I thought these people had animals. Horses and such." And Zevran replies, "In Orlais, perhaps, but not here."

And lo! We are in Orlais! :D

I hope that there isn't anything like Assassin's Creed 3 with the timed horse mission nonsense something that should have only took 3mins took 2 and a half hours to complete without full sync. I have enough trouble positioning and controling my own character WHY do they need to put mounts??? Don't even get me started on the Mako and M-44 Hammerhead from Mass Effect either I really hope this horse thing is optional.

I'm really put off about mounts in DA The reason behind it is sound but 'mounts in DA' just gives me an itchy feeling in the back of neck. Maybe it's something that I can get used too. But at the moment this news is more bad than good for me.
