Uhm... What thread are you refering about, precisely? Memory is not my strong point, sorry

Edit: are you talking about my first solo thread ever? The one I feel so ashamed of talking about?

Very nice guide, I didn't know that Banshees can be charged like this.

I would still not do that. At least not in the PUGS. Too many things can go wrong and any stagger or crazy Banshee jump can get you killed, which 99% means a wipe.

@deerber
I was being kinda facetious
The DV is one of my favorite kits
what I love about the DV is that I feel like if you are playing him right it seems like you are doing what I said: running around like a crazy person
And you kinda are but you need to know the kind of stuff you outlined in your OP
Then you can amaze your friends
The really funny thing is I remember when the DV was considered one of the crappiest kits in the game (even after some of his buffs)

Why is it that I always find myself in the middle of a lift/clusters discussion? Is it me?

And yet if you host there's a 0% chance of things going wrong, so...

You keep on not doing that, if you do not want to improve as a player, of course. I'll keep charging them.

Lol yeah, I was kind of being funny too ;) But yeah, it's a pretty accurate way of describing what you need to do as a Drellguard :D

And indeed I remember those days too. And I remember I was one of the few rocking him just the same

I had to do it for your sake, but in all seriousness clusters dominate.  Ishy might be able to change my mind though with that super legit solo.

Naw dude, I was just experimenting with trying to figure out where enemies would spawn next if I killed them all at once so I set Lift 'nade damage to 99K then I said screw it and set radius to 50 meters for laughs.  I didn't make a video, which would have been me just chucking nades at a wall all match anyway.

I mean, I can't record due to... framerate drops, you'll just have to trust that I did it and am 100% not a cheater.

Nice to know the Banshee logic. I've always known that charge followed with a quick dodge was frequently safe for sync killers if your lag isn't bad, but didn't know the criteria.

I would still not do that on regular basis. Only 1 vs 1 or if I desperately need shields.

You get the weapon/power synergy with charge, which can be helpful.

Ill patiently await the video and i'll just keep practicing till then ... hopefully i'll land in more good quality PUG lobbies, hence enabling me to play that much squishier a character ...

1. Host
2. Equip Venom
3. Stagger and Prime.
4. Throw tons of Grenades.
5.****
6. Profit.

I'm still not where I wanted to be with him. I can play DA fairly safely on Gold+, but die too much with DV.

IMO this is the most fun class to play because of the adrenaline rush you get from the speed of actions taking place around you. Whoever said it's like going to an S&M club without a safety word describes it perfectly.

Deerber you rock a hell of a DV. That footage is pure joy to watch.

I just run around like a crazy person hucking grenades and charging everything
Is that the wrong way to play him?

I don't mind Vanguarding off-host (as that is how I play %99 of the time), but it does cost me anywhere from 0 - 2 extra downs in a match. And I can typically avoid charging into synch kills as I am aware of the different enemy animations.

I do play him agressive. But I haven't found my groove with him in Gold. The big problem seems to be when I charge and miss on direct contact from my first thrown cluster grenade .. I do believe, as Vanguards are my least played class .. I need more info on the best moment to moment strategies for this kit in particular, as he seems to have his own niche in this game .. the squishy, high damage vanguard.

I would keep practicing with him in Silver, but I'm not convinced I can improve with any kit while playing such weak opposition, but in typical Gold PUGs, I can not reasonably expect to carry a match with him just yet .. hence, dilemma

The margin for error on a shield recharge from charging gets less and less on gold and platinum. Any sort of lag that causes you to miss a charge or mis-estimate a sync kill enemy's location is much more deadly. On gold off host with any sort of lag, I have to play MUCH more conservatively (and less fun, it turns out).

Indeed, which is why I always host when I play my vanguards. Lag is insanely deadly to vanguards, which I learned the hard way. Only time I won't host as a vanguard is if I'm playing bronze... which doesn't happen often, seeing as how wave 1 on gold is harder than wave 10 on bronze. (On a sidenote, playing MP and facing wave after wave of ever stronger enemies makes the single player campaign pathetically easy. Just destroyed the campaign on insanity with my vanguard, only went down like 5-8 times throughout the entire game.)

Good guide.

As a Krogan, besides meleeing her like mad when she's not charged, I like to BC Banshees when they are warping. Yes, this sounds dangerous, but it isn't. The trick is to charge her as she is warping. That way, you charge where she was and do that damage to her (and refill shields) where she is , which happens to land her outside of sync range.

Good guide.

Ahhh! Great tip!

I only host in once in a blue moon and was happy once I figured this out during my solos so it's a shame I'll rarely get to enjoy using this.
I'll still continue using my DV regardless, host or not, but with him(and the slayer of course) you can really feel playing off host and, at times, it will hurt.
DV remains a destroyer of worlds regardless thankfully.
