default warden was a warrior, default Hawke was a blood mage, and now it's turn of rogues, makes sense right?
What I can't see is which kind of weapons the hooded figure has. Sword and dagger? single sword?

There was also a DA2 trailer showing Hawke as a Blood Mage and acted like an Arcane Warrior with his staff

Plus the DA2 cover shows Mage Hawke

They've already got the cloak down, maybe give archers some love and make the marketing protagonist a bow-toting Ranger.

yes, hawke is a blood mage.

So I thought I was looking at the holy trinity of rpgs (mage, rogue, warrior) differentiated by color to enhance their different roles I assumed. And now Elfman says it's Cassandras silhouette. Hmmm... could that mean the shielded figure is a grey warden companion?

I still think maybe the Inquisitor is gonna be a rogue, it makes sense right?

I think they've stated they're going with dual marketed protagonist. Maybe by two sides game cover or with some physical editions using male and others female

to me it looks like the grey warden companion from those early DA2 concepts (remember the one with a Qunari, a female elf archer and the grey warden with helmet?

Well if people want to complain even there is nothing to complain they find something to complain. And it don't matter you can create your character whatever you want.
