If The Inquisitor kills Morrigan my Warden will be out for blood.

Protagonist vs Protagonist?

Could be interesting.

Yeah, I also think Morrigan is going to be bad. But if anyone kills her... It should be my Warden.

That was the conclusion I came to as well OP.

She features prominently in the teaser trailer but is confirmed as a non-companion. It was also confirmed that she has a substational role beyond just a small cameo. Considering that and the fact that the big bad for this game is both a secret, and someone who has some redeeming qualities, Im guessing it is going to Morrigan.

It could also be Flemeth of course, with perhaps Morrigan looking to unravel her mother's plans, but that wouldn't have near the same amount of shock value.

I'm betting on Morrigan.

If it is Morrigan, my Inquisitor won't spare her. She'll die in the end, if that is an option. And its going to be painful (for me, as a player) because I like Morrigan as a character, my Warden had a thing with her.

Semi-confirmed rumor:

Morrigan is the Illusive Man of DA:I.

Instead of implanting herself with reaper tech she will let a pride demon inside her.

"I can control the Reapers Fade!"

Nah....It's Sandel.

Still a major part of the game.

As much as I would have loved some more Morrigan sass and banter, I am at least gald that they are giving her the story and recognition she deserces. :)

Assuming Morrigan is the big bad, how many of your Inquisitors would spare her, and how many would kill her?

Also assuming that both are options of course.

I still think it depends on how you interacted and will interact with her.

I just...

I can't believe that she would be doing something as the main "bad" based on how scared and worried she sounded when she talked about Flemeth's plans with the Warden before entering the Eluvian.

I also think she is too young to have planned something so in advance. It sounds like the "bitterend" has been planned way before she was even born.

I'd kill her.

Wouldn't be easy, but I would. The Inquisitor isn't the Warden, they're not friends so unless some history was established between the two of them earlier in the game I see no reason to spare her.

Unless, of course, I actually agree with whatever it is she's doing, I guess...

Is she is the bad guy, and the only way to stop her is to kill her, i will never finish the game.

And even if she really is the baddy, i hope my Warden is beside her... Would be very hard to make a decision to kill her AND the Warden...

I would kill her if it was for a greater good, but I still highly doubt that (At least with my playthough) that Morrigan would resort to such ruthlessness if she was shown either love or friendship from my Warden.

Imagine Morrigan trying to be like her mother and building things up to reach whatever ideal she wants (preserving the old ways when there was no Veil and Dragons roamed the earth; or simple love of survivial of the fittest) and instead she over plays her hand... get caught. And the Inquistor kills her because status quo is god.

Because we have NEVER seen that trope from a BioWare antagonist before, right? I mean what game has done that before?

Oh right, ME1, ME2 and ME3. Or Saren, or Loghain or Sarevok or Irenicus. So, yeah, that probably is right!

I just hope the endgame isn't some Flemeth versus Morrigan shtick. That seems too obvious.

Exactly so. I imagine Flemeth could easily be the villain. In fact, it's too easy to see her as such. Morrigan, however, is beloved by much of the fandom. And she's been raised by Flemeth to think the old ways are best.

Flemeth's played her centuries old game in part because she can keep a low profile. Getting Morrigan to destroy the Veil, bring back the Old Gods, and take the heat? That's a good way to stay low profile. Especially since most people believe she's dead.

...except for Cassandra and Varric.

...it still could be Flemeth as the big bad. But something in my head-meat says Gaider wants to shock us. And Morrigan's an easy twist.

...maybe too easy.

....

....

I won't kill Morrigan, even if the only alternative is closing the game and never playing again.

Maybe Gaider only wants you to believe Flemeth is the Big Bad, so you'll automatically suspect Morrigan is the Big Bad because it's too easy for it to be Flemeth, so when Flemeth is revealed to be the Baddest of Bigs, we're all like OMG no way!

In that case all us cynical forumites would just roll our eyes and say "Pfft. I called that back in Origins."

To the question of if I'd kill Morrigan.

That depends on a lot of things doesn't it? Number one, would it even fix anything? Seems the Veil's gone now. Would killing the person who ripped it apart magically fix the Veil? If so... yeah, probably.

Does the Inquistor know anything about Morrigan? Do they have a relationship? Does Morrigan have the Old God Baby? Is the Old God Baby insane, monsterous, tainted, or otherwise something unholy in desperate need of a murder knife in the face? If the Old God has to die would Morrigan try to stop me?

I mean there's a lot of ways this could go down. And yeah, her survival of DA3 depends on a few of these answers.

As a Morrigan fan, I’ll add my 2 cents to this thought, and its summed up in the simple phrase, no ****ing way… its beyond too obvious.

While I have absolutely no definitive numbers to back this up, just visiting the DA forums as I do, I would wager more people who played DAO disliked Morrigan (despised is more like it), than seemed to like her.

She’s an easy target, she is clearly on the ‘wrong’ side of the altruistic Warden of DAO decisions (i.e. favoring letting Redcliff be destroyed, killing innocent elves to increase the Warden’s power, freeing connor, only because she was asked, the Dark Ritual), not to mention she can be a **** at times.

Morrigan being the Big Bad of DAI is about as subtle as a sledge hammer to the face. I don’t think it would be a surprise to many returning players, just a confirmation of their suspicions. Boooooooring.

And I should add, I don’t think Flemeth will be the villain either. I view both her and Morrigan as Anit-Heroes… they seek what the hero seeks, the only difference is what ends they are willing to accept. Flemeth does little more than help the Warden (saving him/her at Ostagar; giving him/her the treaties… that’s why I usually let her go in DAO) and even helps Hawke on his Uninteresting Adventure. Her temperament and means might not be the best, but really, when has Flemeth done anything but assist the PC?

If Morrigan is the big baddie of DAI, then the writers have clearly mailed it in.

I would kill Morrigan in a heartbeat if she is the "evil one". In fact, with her new look in DAI, it would almost be a pleasure.
