So I just restarted Origin and it is now downloading a 1700 MB update for Dragon Age II. What the fudge is going on?!

Sorry, I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with syncing your DA2 stuff with origin, but this is just a guess. Just ignore it, it's probably nothing to worry about.

Yes noticed this as well, would love to know what it's about! (loving the game so far, though!)

I'm assuming it's the high-res patch and the extra goodies from playing DA:Legends or whatever that flash game was called.

Same here. Has anyone noticed that the Dragon Age 2 launcher has disappeared after installing this update?
My launcher is gone now.

I also had to change the shortcut link and icon. Whoever did the patch needs to issue a fix for the shortcut and start up items.

Strange. It wanted to do that at first to me as well than decided only to install the update. I did a quick game in Dragon Age 2 and didn't notice anything different. Only the game plays better now but then I also bought a GTX 670 so it should play better.
Maybe someone from Bioware will let us know what the update was about?

Same here, maybe it was a stealth update? Is there anything different in the game itself?

I dont get it. I got DA2 disc version installed. I dont remember adding it to origin. It just showed up by itself there one day.
Now when I started origin, it suddenly started to download all the DLC stuff I already have installed in the disc version. I launched DA2 from desktop, not origins and it started normally and all my DLC was there as before.
Weird...

Just a guess here but I'm thinking it was downloading what you have registered to the cloud. In my instance I had too many saved games and the cloud couldn't save them all. If I chose that option I would have lost a good chunk of my saves.
Not bloody likely.

no official word yet?
as far as I know, some say that since Origin is managing the DLCs sales now, it is re-downloading all of them to your drive (as in, Origin files now), including the hi-res one (or so it seems)
weird that there's no word about this, being an important change (even if game-wise there's no change)

Guys, I tried to know a simply Official Note... But, no! EA/Bioware said nothing. Weird... I couldn't download 1.7Gb. Origin's "dowloader" was giving loopings (at 800 Mb back to 400 Mb) so I uninstall DA2 and now I'm downloading everything again. :-(

Well this is weird. I was having some problems with Origin and according to it failed Dragon Age: Ultimate edition dlc's so I reinstalled it. This was after Origin downloaded the 1700mb "update" for Dragon Age 2. After reinstalling Origin it wants to download this update again.
Edit: Dragon Age 2 just downlaoded another 240mb update. What is going on?
This new Origin has gone mad with updates. Now it wants me to download a 4,5 gb patch for Mass Effect 3 and a 6gb patch for Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning!
