I have that problem more with snap freeze/flamer kits (Does no one take the range upgrade anymore?) and juggernauts. Funny how PUGs run to the front for the glory but quickly move when the fire starts incoming leaving you in a bad situation as you can't see what the heck is going on until oh that's a phantom...gut shot.  As a result my new top choice is get the hell out of my LOS. Even narrow hallways like glacier can fit 2-3 players with a good view.

Now that I have chat enabled, I can talk, but I barely have time between waves to write a line or two. So far I've said to X guy who was getting downed a lot to be more careful.

I sometimes use my mic, if others are using theirs. When I concentrate I'm incapable of communicating with humans, so generally if you hear me say anything, I'm either dead or have killed everything around me. There are a few exceptions:

 

"Was that really necessary?" after someone missiles an enemy because someone went down. Dude. No.

 

"Stay here. I'll flank."

 

"Run" especially when everyone takes cover with 2 banshees and a brute headed our way. People seem to have some aversion to using the WHOLE map.

 

"I'm not reviving you." Comes out a little abruptly, usually just means you died in a stupid place and I can't get to you.

 

"Just because I used shield boost when I got hit doesn't mean I'm going to restore your shields every time they go down. Don't rely on me, I have things to do."

 

"Stop running in front of the decoy!"
