DrudgeRavener5:

Just now, I couldn't start it because I was missing physx.dll files. I just used explore to access the Physx installer on the disc, installed, and the game seems to be working - though I've just logged online, and am checking out the main menu. All I did was copy and paste the rest of my files from my external to internal HDs, section by section. You should have bin_ship, data, docs, modules, packages (all file folders), and DAOriginsLauncher (application) in the folder you've made by the time you're done. I launched directly from the launcher in the folder, rather than the auto launch, and made my desktop shortcuts with the configuration utility.

Let me know exactly what you did, I'll try and help. :)

I'm working on something right now to see if it works. If not I'll post what I did earlier. *crosses fingers*

Bleh, that didn't work. What I did before was install it on my roommate's computer and then move his files over to mine but when I ran the game I got an error saying there was a configuration issue. I have the digital download so I don't have the disc version. I'll look for the physx.dll file you mentioned and see if that helps.

If you downloaded the game on the pre-download from the EA store (DDE version). And get the install error due to corrupted rar archives. Delete the content you downloaded and download the installation again through the EA download manager. This solved my install error problem.

Worth trying out if you have the EA store pre-download version.

I got the game through Direct2Drive. I've started a download of the DDE version via the EA Download Manager but it hasn't finished yet. I've just been trying other things in the meantime to get it to work.

GOOD NEWS!!! As mentioned earlier, I've been working with EA Support to resolve this issue (they've actually been very attentive to the issue). I have finally installed the game successfully, so I'm immediately passing on the steps I went through that appeared to resolve the issue. Please note that I have a Vista 32-bit machine so there may be counterparts to my steps on different machines, or possibly this solution will not work. Also, please note that I downloaded the game via EA Download Manager and these steps effect that process, so I don't know if this will work for other options. However, one can take the general idea here and try to apply it to their scenario.

Note: I received this resolution directly from EA and it does not involve jacking around wih rar and bik files and such.  It involves updates to system settings on your machine.

I'm going to post this now and work on a new post with the steps - so I can get the message out. I hope this works for others. (This has been a loooong ordeal for me)

I deleted my pre-loaded EADM install, and downloaded it anew tonight and the install worked for me now.

I'm using the European (norwegian) EADM pre-load, not the US tho.

I used to get the fault on the gorim VO file others here have mentioned.

Have the same problem as mentioned above. Downloading the game again through EADM.

PS

I'm already considering just to download a pirate version and not to bother with EA...

well my re-download will be done in 15 minutes, (also norway).

Tough I highly doubt it will make a diffrence (knowing my luck) I sure hope so..

Im starting to get tired the amount of games that offer preloads that end up having to redownload cause they somehow manage to corrupt theyr preload.. Champions online, Darkfall etc etc etc :P becoming a pain.

First note that the resolution appears to be keyed on DEP (Data Execution Prevention). However, I am going to list all the things EA Support had me perform to eliminate any variables.  Again, these steps are applied from the perspective of having downloaded via EADM.  Here we go:

(Note: I have Vista 32-bit so please use any counterparts to these steps for other OS)

1) You are going to have to download the game again.  Delete the cache files by clicking the red "x" button in EADM next to the download
2) Create a folder called "EADM" in your "C:>User>UserName>Documents" folder
3) Right click on the EADM icon in taskbar (bottom right on most machinces), select settings, and point your download path to this new location
4) close EADM completely by right clicking on same icon and choosing exit
(note: the above steps may not be key to this but we should try to follow all steps. this option can help get passed certain UAC controls)

5) Hit the Windows button and "R" key to open the RUN bar, type in "msconfig", click Okay
6) Select the "Tools" Tab
7) Scroll down to "Disable UAC" option, highlight this option and click "Launch"
8) You should be asked to restart your system

(ok...now this next step I think was key to resolving the issue)

9) Open the Control Panel and Select "Advance System Settings" (or you can right click on the "Computer" icon on your desktop (the old "My Computer"), if you have it and select "Properties"
10) You now have the "System Properties" panel open - many of you are already familiar with this
11) Go to the "Advanced" tab
12) Under "Performance" section click the settings button
13) The "Performance Options" panel should now be open
14) Goto the "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) tab
15) it's important to follow the next steps closely to make sure the right file is selected
16) Click the Radio button next to the "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:" option. The box below it should activate
17) Click the "Add" button below the box that enables you to browse for executables
18) Browse to the following directory or the like "C:>Program Files>Electronic Arts>EADM"
19) Choose the application named simply "Core" (there's a green EA ball icon next to it)
20) Click Open
21) In the Box on the "Performance Options" below DEP radio buttons you should now see "EA Download Manager" with a check box next to it and a check in that box
22) Click apply and okay to close the panel
23) I can't recall if it prompts for a restart at this point but I suggest you do this regardless.

24) Once your machine restarts you can now reopen EADM and redownload the game -then install.  You may want to check the options again to make sure the download path is correct.  The game should install fine now.

My thinking here is that for others that have had issue with the digital downloads they can use a variation of the above steps.  For instance, I have used D2D often and know that they have their own download manager.  You may choose to add that executable to the DEP bypass option above.  You may want to redirect the download path for this game as well, but i think it general defaults to the user>\\\\downloads folder or the like anyway.

I apologize, but I can't think of an option for those installing from disk. I recommend logging a ticket with EA Support if you don't have success, as well as others that find the above steps unsuccessful.  I found them very responsive.

I hope everyone has success!

I've considered this as well. I even have my eye on one. I figure if it works then I can just use my own cd key when installing. That's a last resort though (since I always seem to get bad download speeds with torrents) and I haven't given up yet.

Also, note that I expect EA to release a more general fix to this issue within the week. In talking with them, their main problem was not being able to recreate the issue on their machines. As IT myself, that's the first step to resolving anything. They are very eager to resolve it for us folks.

Ah, unfortunately that will require me to download for a fifth time. :P I still have an hour and a half on the eadm download (which is my first attempt from downloading with them) so if that doesn't work I will definitely be trying this and redownloading one more time. :) i just wish there were something I could do that didn't involve 7+ hour downloads. Thank you very much for letting us know how you got it to work and I'll report back if it works for me as well.

My pleasure. Fortunately I've been getting up to 3MB/sec with EADM. Sorry about the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\s in my file paths. It appears to be something funky with the forum.

well If I end up having to download again the only option I see is to download from some unofficial site/torrent, since ea obviously cant handle distribution..

On a diffrent note, the download just finished again and I can try installing again, If that fails again I atleast wont have to listen to another jimmy fix solution by a EA rep that has no clue what so ever of the product or the method of distribution hes representing.

3mb... your lucky ... I get 445 kbs tops..

I ran a diagnostic in Winrar and I seem to be missing epi_shale.fsb from the campaign_vo_english archive (or, at least, it comes up as corrupt).

If someone could please send me that file, I'd be very grateful.

There are also 9 other instances of broken files in other language voiceovers (for French, German and Polish), but I won't be using those, so I'm guessing I won't need those to be able to install.

I was running into the same issue when I attempted to install the game; Tried killing services and anti-virus, cleaning my harddrive, and when none of that worked, even a brand new windows 7 64 install on a different partition. All without any luck.

My PC (an SLI Dell XPS 630) has in the past had issues with WoW patches as well though (an issue quite a few people seem to have with the XPS 630) so I suspected it was my desktop and not the dvd that was the issue. The fact that the install would crash at different times during the installs led me to believe this as well.

The thing that finally allowed me to get the game installed was to temporarily remove one of my 2 9800GT video cards; not sure why this made a difference, but the install worked perfectly with only a single graphics card in my box. As soon as it was done, I put it back in, re-enabled SLI and have been playing without any issues since then.

Hope this might help someone with a similar hardware issue...

Sadly, MalekT can't access the file I'm looking for either - so if someone else still can send me epi_shale.fsb from the campaign_vo_english archive, I'd be grateful.

I keep getting "data error" I have done everything short of installing while in Safe mode and downloading the game. I have even swapped it out at the retailer. Any suggestions?
