So yeah, I'm at a loss here. It would be lovely if someone came up with a solution for this. Right now, I'm just going to wait another three and a half hours for the game to download again and I'll try installing it yet again, but I have to admit I'm not too hopeful.

Ok, SO alot of people are having install problems, I'll post a way that works for me.
Open the CD or folder or whatever where the game is.
Press CTRL+A to select everything and copy it to your HDD somewhere.
Make sure you have WinRAR or 7zip, preferably winrar for this.
In those files go to the data folder and select all the RAR files and extract them to a directory you made for DA:O. When the extract is done, it might tell you that a file was corrupt, (Textures.erf for me).
make sure that file extracted regardless.
You could stop here and actually play the game, I did.
But to go a step further, find the RAR with the file thats corrupt. Open it with WinRAR and delete the corrupt file. make sure you have the file from the previous extraction tho.
Now you can actually start the installer, and it will run all the way through. Find the old corrupt file and paste it where you installed the game.
One more better than this is see if someone on here can get you an uncorrupted version of the file you need.
Anyway this worked for me and my bro, so do with it what you will.
This worked for me.

Copied all of the files from the disk to my HD as per "manual install"
Using WinRAR, I found which file was corrupted.
DLed the EADM version
Unzipped the archive (from the EADM cache) with the file I needed.
Added the file and every file that came after it (alphabetical order), to the archive (HD files) that included the corrupted file.
Then ran the setup as normal.
I hope this helps someone.

Four downloads from EADM here, each download is corrupt in some ways. So far I've yet to get a non-corrupt version of modelmeshdata, which being a ~600MB file is a bit much to ask someone to send me. The latest download has >50 corrupt files in one of the rar files, I'm really loving the EADM:mellow:onlysifix wrote...
I'm downloading with EADM for the third time now without any luck. I've tried manually unzipping the file, but I get a different error when actually trying to launch the game afterwards (There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game.)

I always run the memtest for all memory modules that I buy, and about 30% of all memory modules that I've bought have been faulty some way or the other. Some only showed faulty after some use, one failed after a year, and I count all of them been faulty to begin with
So I suggest that everyone who have or have had these issues runs the memtest if they have not done that recently.
You can find memtest here: http://www.memtest.org/
Note that you need to download the .iso, burn it to cd and then boot from that cd. You cannot run the memtest from the windows, as the windows (or any other OS, except DOS, for that matter) interferes with the memory testing.
If you do not have a burner, then other option is to make a bootable usb stick, and you should be able to use the unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) for that. The page talks about linux distributions, but it should also work with the .iso's from the memtest page. You should be somewhat careful when using the unetbootin, as it can also write to your hard drive, so make sure that you've selected the usb stick as the write location.

It seems i spoke too soon. I have dowloaded with EADM 3 times. Diferent times diferent corrupted data files. I managed to frankenstein a set of working data files and then installed the game and even got to change the game settings, but when i try to play the game it says: (There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game.)DeltaGorno wrote...

Any specific workaround for this issue?

Anyway, I'm hoping the game actually works now, or I'll go hit my head against a wall. I've never had this much trouble installing a game before.
---Edit: Yep, it's working. I can't change the color of my characters eyes and all the NPCs also have rather creepy black eyes, but it's good enough.

Couldn't find a workaround so I installed it on my new laptop.
Hate to think I can't play on my 24'' display on PC but have to make do with 15''4 on lap...
Anyway can't wait to play it any longer and this solution has to be enough :/

I've been fighting with this problem all afternoon, sometimes it fails at the beginning of install, sometimes past the halfway point. I have the DVD CE, Vista 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, GTX 280, oodles of HD room...it should run dammit.
My default install folder was \\\\\\\\program files(x86)\\\\\\\\, which DAO was not happy with, it gave me the message "The current permissions are insufficient to write to the selected folder". I have never seen this message before in my life, and it seemed happy with \\\\\\\\program files\\\\\\\\, so what's going on? Also, it sometimes gives me the options for installing shortcuts during the install, sometimes not. There's no rhyme or reason for the data error.
I've tried almost everything others have suggested here, and turned off the User Account Control, as that was something that worked for Mass Effect's sometimes buggy install. I am becoming extremely annoyed. <_<
I hope BioWare (or anybody!) comes up with something very soon.
Re install and at the custom install selection install it to anther location outside of Program Files. Program Files is having restricted access problems on some people computers.
