STEP 1 - Download 7-ZIP File Manager. In order to help you identify corrupted data not only in .rar files, but also in .cab and .exe files
STEP 2 - Go to Control Panel, then system and choose avanced systems settings. In the advanced tab choose Performance and hit the config/properties button. Go to the DEP - Data Execution Prevention tab and choose the option: "Activate to all programs, except the ones i choose". Click "add" and now choose EADM (should be called "core.exe" but with the EADM green globe symbol)
STEP 3 - Download the game with EADM but don't install it. Go to your HD (probably C:/) then to Program Data (not program files), then Eletronic Arts/EADM/Cache/{whatever}/Dragonagedlx_dd. Copy Dragonagedlx_dd folder to your desktop.
STEP 4 - Test ALL files with the .exe, .dll, .msi, .rar extensions within Dragonagedlx_dd folder using 7-ZIP File Manager (simply right click the file and choose 7-Z and test files). Delete any file that 7-ZIP finds corrupt.
STEP 5 - Clear the EADM Cache folder (by simply clicking in the "x" button next to the game in the EADM window) and download the game again.
STEP 6 - Once the download is finished, test the files in Program Data/Eletronic Arts/EADM/Cache/{whatever}/Dragonagedlx_dd with 7-ZIP (again simply right click the file and choose 7-Z and test files)
STEP 7 - Now replace the corrupted files you found at Desktop/Dragonagedlx_dd folder with it's uncorrupted counterparts stored in Program Data/Eletronic Arts/EADM/Cache/{whatever}/Dragonagedlx_dd.
STEP 8 - Repeat STEPs 5 to 7 untill all files in your Desktop/Dragonagedlx_dd folder are uncorrupted.
STEP 9 - Right click setup.exe (with a Dragon Age Shield symbol) in Desktop/Dragonagedlx_dd folder and choose Properties and hit the compatibility tab. Choose Compatibility mode (Win XP SP2) then install and play the game.
Hope it works for you as it is for me.

One possible explanation for the data corruption issues is faulty RAM. Someone in the daforums had data error on random files when installing, and the reason for him was faulty RAM, which he verified with memtest.
I always run the memtest for all memory modules that I buy, and about 30% of all memory modules that I've bought have been faulty some way or the other. Some only showed faulty after some use, one failed after a year, and I count all of them been faulty to begin with.
So I suggest that everyone who have or have had these issues runs the memtest if they have not done that recently.
You can find memtest here: http://www.memtest.org/
Note that you need to download the .iso, burn it to cd and then boot from that cd. You cannot run the memtest from the windows, as the windows (or any other OS, except DOS, for that matter) interferes with the memory testing.
If you do not have a burner, then other option is to make a bootable usb stick, and you should be able to use the unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) for that. The page talks about linux distributions, but it should also work with the .iso's from the memtest page. You should be somewhat careful when using the unetbootin, as it can also write to your hard drive, so make sure that you've selected the usb stick as the write location.
This is a very good idea. Especially for people that have tried the EADM and the DVD install. If you are getting corrupted installs from both methods it is highly unlikely it is the game files, and much more likely to do with your computers RAM or other possibilities. For those who can try with another computer, if it works on the other computer then you know its a problem with your computer and not the game.

One thing I haven't done is update my systems BIOS lately, at this point I know I'm grasping at straws to find a solution (while I wait for EA Supports cryptic response to my ticket).

i need the file "game_introduction.bik" inside "Movies.rar"
you can locate it in:
C:\\ProgramData\\Electronic Arts\\EADM\\cache\\{ 2300515429 }\\dragonagedlx_dd\\data
And for those who want uncorrupt files, send pm to me i can put all together in one megaupload file.
ps: sorry for my broken english...

I called the store where I bought the game and I didn't have to do much begging and they agreed to exchange my PC copy for one of the two console versions. I own a 360 and PS3 and I read the latter had the best version (2nd) to the PC. RPGs are much better suited for the PC for controls but apart from the interface and the lack of a zoom out ability the console versions are pretty much the same.
Bioware I still love you but before you merged with EA I never had a single issue getting your games to work.

This. I've already downloaded the damned thing 5 times, I'd have no objection to having to download a ~2x larger unpacked version if it meant I could actually play a game I've dropped £30 on...Irisheyes1969 wrote...
The only thing needed is a full unpacked download , why they just aren't putting one up makes no sense.
4 days and no response from EA "support". Awesome.

I changed the EADM to winxp sp3 compatibility mode, restarted pc, downloaded. Then my installing worked. Don't think I downloaded earlier in that mode... just tried to install in that mode.
Try if it makes a difference.

Did you also install in that mode or just download through the EADM in that mode? Did you have a DVD version that you tried before?

Note: It appears as 'setup.exe' for me in the cd drive. Added PhyX_9.09.exe into the list also.
2) Install DirectX and PhyX_9.09 from the cd itself before initiating install.
3) It worked
If it works for anyone pls reply, I would like to know if i found the way. lol

Open the file in winRAR, then if the file is corrupt you shuold get a message (mine was missing header)
if so, then repair the file (under tools).
In order to install using the new rar file i hade to copy the whole dvd to a folder on my hard drive with the new rar in the data folder (remember to rename the new rar file because winrar adds "rebuilt." to the front of it.
This fixed the install for me. I can only assume the cause of this problem is cheap dvd creation process as poeple are having issues with different files.

I should have bought this game off of Steam, they use a totally different installer, one that most likely works on my PC. My proof, I had the same problems with the PC DVD version of Mass Effect. Steam was selling that game for half price so I took a chance and bought it from them. The game installed and runs perfectly fine. Now I'm really kicking myself for not getting this game from Steam. So now I have a game that I can't get to install and the store will not take it back either. Also EA Support, which I wrote to them 2 weeks ago has yet to reply even once. Is this what tech support was like back in the Dark Ages? Oh yeah right no computers back then.
