It's hard to see from the videos, but is Vivienne black (as in actually black) or just tan like Isabela? Because it would be nice to see some different races in DA.

Isabela is not tan. She looks like an indian woman.

Think we've seen all the races in Thedas except for one on Par Follon, or however it's spelled

I sure hope there's an option or outfit to change her headdress. Not a fan of those really as I really like to see the hair on people's heads sometimes. Unless of course that particular headdress gives her immunity to death magic, then I am fine

Anyways, don't know if this has been discussed, but I believe Vivienne is bald/shaves her head.  If you look at the character icons during the combat demo at pax, her icon appears without her headdress, and it looks like she is bald.

Yeah, she does look like her facial features are more typically "black" and her skin looks to be a different shade than Isabella.  More cocoa complected.  If she is also bald on top of it, I would love her forever.  The last time I can remember a strong black female character in a western RPG is the Fable series (Whisper and Page).  It would be awesome.

Maybe she will be a bit like Dynaheir?  Dynaheir was a black female mage (Rasheman) who was a bit haughty and stuck-up.  And I loved her for that!

I think I'm really going to like her.
She's not quite like any other mage we've had as a companion before. Confident, perhaps borderline smug, and as a pro-circle mage, she won't be an abomination in disguise, won't traffic with demons, and is likely to be more moderate than Anders or Morrigan. 

Tired of seeing extreme mages after DA2.  I would like to see a mage that "plays by the rules" or at least she did before the Circles collapsed.  

A mage that understands that the circles had a reason behind them, but still stands up for other mages.  Perfect.

In some pictures she looks black, while in others more tan (the same thing happened to Isabela). I don´t mind the skin colour, but if she is indeed bald then that means none of my characters will romance her, even if i appreciate her being a circle mage that believes inthe system.

Yeah, I was leaning towards her being more "tan" at first as well, but the PAX footage pretty much put that to rest.  She is definitely black.

I'm also not convinced she's going to be a romance option.  Of course, there has been really nothing released about LI's at this point so it's all just spec.

She is definitely black. You can make our her face clearly in the gameplay footage from PAX.

Since she doesn't have an Orlesian accent despite working in the Orlesian Circle and is presumably of either Nevarran or Rivaini descent, I'm going to hedge my bets and guess that she was transferred to Orlais at some point, like Anders and the Human Mage Warden were sent to Ferelden?

I loved her little moment snarking at Cassandra in the PAX Demo, seems like she's got a good sense of humour.

Not only do we get a pro-circle mage with an amusing attitude, but she is also an ethnicity that we haven't seen in any of the Dragon Age games so far! I wasn't convinced when she was announced out of the blue, but I've grown to like her addition to the game already.

It's like Bioware has read my mind and is adding every small thing I wanted to see in future Dragon Age games.

Come on, Maria. That's not really fair, is it? I can't speak for the kats over on the ME Team but we know the Dragon Age team is better than that. In all the promos with Isabela she looked dark skinned to me. Vivienne is black and she'll stay black even for any promos. Not to mention that would be a (*bleep*) storm even EA wouldn't be willing to kick up.

Wow. I guess I must be going deaf because in all the Pax videos I've seen the only banter I've heard was between Cassandra and Varric. Where, exactly, did you see Cassandra+Vivianne banter?
