"My dear, we've rendered them all expendable." And with that line Vivienne and I became best friends.Plus I kind of like the outfit, I like the VA (assuming that's not a place holder)... colour me intrigued.
I believe Garrus still had his classic voice way back in some of ME's most initial demo footage, so it seems likely that she's going to be the VA.
And I love the way she refers to people as "My Dear". I don't know how to phrase it, but it adds something to her character, makes you feel like she's still fond of you and your party members, even when she's going to act lovably snark and condescending about it, because that's just how the upper crust rolls.
Yes. She very much reminds me of my main Pawn from Dragon's Dogma. I like her already.

They've already confirmed you can change your companion's outfit.
Which gives us the chance to steal her hat for ourselves.

I was under the impression you can change thier outfits, but the item will "morph" depending on who you put it on in order to generally give them a distinct look.
For instance putting a hat on my inquisitor it would look like one of the ugly mage hats from DAO but if I put it on Viv it will be a horn hat but the horns might curl downwards instead of sticking up etc.

Heck, right now I'd be happy to simply learn more about her. She looks like she might turn out to be an interesting character.

That's what Mark said in his blog prior to the announcement of DA:I.
I'm not sure how the system will work in the final game itself, but you could see an example of different companion armor in the PAX demo.
If you take a look at some of the early screenshots of Cassadra in Gameinformer and DA:I website, you'll see her wearing one type of Seeker armor. Now, in the gameplay video at PAX (the one where she's talking to Vivienne) Cassadra's armor changed to black full plate with a trenchcoat (same one she's wearing on the image in World of Thedas).
If that's any indication, I believe it'll be possible to give Vivienne different robes, but they'll all be orlesian theamed. Just as Cassadra's armor always feature Seeker colors and heraldry.

I'm thinking that the overall "shape" of each armor/ robe will be consistent when placed on a particular character.Master Shiori wrote...

Just a suspition I'm going to throw out here: Vivienne may have a slightly different hat that automatically goes with each robe placed on her, and that it may not even be possible to have Vivienne hatless.

I'm not sure where I heard it, but I vaguely recall some mention of her being Duncan's daughter. Can anyone tell me if there is anything to this, or is it just complete fantasy?

Haha thanks. I'm going to go crazy trying to remember where I heard it now. The idea was that she was the result of Duncan's fling with the mage during The Calling. That much I remember.eluvianix wrote...

We can change their outfits, we can put them in different types of armour and clothing, a mage can wear armour and heavy armour including Vivienne, and we can change individual pieces of armour and clothing to look anyway we want to and see how it looks on them before equipping them and seeing how it looks in thrm.
They will retain their shape, style and something that identifies them but other than that we have full control over their looks and can go to town customizing their armours to a high degree colors, materials, head, collars, chest, hands, leggings so there will be tons of different Vivienne's but no matter what we put her in there'll be something that identifies her.

There were a few rumours or theories that she maybe his daughter or his younger sister but wasn't mentioned by the devs or really hinted at.
Anyway she looks great and I think she'll be an interesting character and a companion.

Last I heard, it was emphasised that all companions would have an iconic look regardless of how much customization was available But, given how much more time there is before the game is released, I'm not sure we can definitively say yet what we can or can't do.
That said, personally I LOVED the DA2 "iconic look" and really would have been happy if they'd stayed with it.
I seriously doubt Vivienne is Duncan's daughter. That's almost certainly totally b.s.
