I suppose I'm imagining her (albeit with VERY little to go on at this point) as someone who is probably very competent and worked very hard to rise to her current position. She's probably proud of that. I also think she probably cares deeply about other mages, and believes that she--and she alone--can protect them and do what's best for them (which could lead to significant angst on her part, as she holds herself to an unrealistically high standard). I think she will be assertive and opinionated because she's learned that leading requires action (and she WAS in line to be the First Enchanter).

This is similar to my view of her, only with overly generous helpings of stereotypical Orlesianisms and slightly less altruism and slightly more egocentricism.

Not necessarily. Mages can be transferred from circle to circle, so she could be from Ferelden, for all we know (or have spent most of her life there). With a name like Vivienne, she was likely born in Orlais, but, again, they travel.

I think it likely that she will have a french accent, however.

Ok, after reading more, I guess it's -1 more party member for me. lol

I have a strong feeling my inquisitor is going to be alone in her journey.

I'm very excited for her, she sounds cool. My first Inquisitor is probably going to be very anti-Circle though, so they might not get alongt. I even started to like Velanna in my second playthrough so I don't mind if they're a bit alike, but I don't think they will...

Seems like a very likeable lady to me. After several apostates who, except Morrigan, were all more or less touched in the head, a sane and competent mage person is just the thing.

Good. The more pro-Circle mages, the better.

Is she a PoC? I was having a tough time figuring it out, but I thought her skin might be dark brown. If so, then that's awesome.

I'm glad you posted, because I honestly had no idea what a PoC was.

But yeah, she looks like she might be dark skinned.

Hahah. Yeah, it means Person of Color. Meaning not white.

But they also made a point of calling her Orlesian. Not that I don't want her to have one I'm just trying to get a mental image.

sorry about the confusion I just know some people don't like calling them black and was trying to avoid being offensive.

I'm already waiting for people to complain about the french accent and other people screaming it sounds fake, even if it's done by an actual french speaking voice actor. :innocent:

Really? Is that a thing? I suppose Americans have that whole African American thing, but it hardly applies to Thedosians. I personally don't like the term as where I'm from, saying coloured people can be offensive.

But I just assumed it was because you weren't quite sure. I thought she was closer to Zevran's skin tone than 'black'.

The term 'colored' is offensive in America, but Person of Color is not--or at least, it isn't intended to be. In America, we do have the phrase African American, but some people prefer black because not everybody that has dark brown skin is african or american. and PoC is a little more inclusive--it includes all sorts of races (Asian, South American, Mexican, Polynesian, African, and so on).

Basically the above.

At any rate I personally don't mind the Orlesian accents, but I do wonder who they'll be getting to voice her as I'm unfortunately not ro familiar with the VO world.

I'd also be curious to know her age... She was close to becoming First Enchanter which makes me think she would be at least middle aged.

She looks really young in the pictures.

Then again Flemeth doesn't look a day over 50 and she has apparently been alive for centuries.

And speaking of her age/in line for First Enchanter thing...
What does this mean for her level? Does this mean she'll join you at 13th level or something? Granted, we have no idea when we meet her. And maybe they'll just fudge it and give her 3 levels even though it doesn't make sense with her story.

Right now her origin is unknown, but Orlesian is probably the best guess. Vivienne is a French name that means 'alive.'
I wonder if the name is a hint at her personality.

I'm very pleased to see a mage companion who seems to share my viewpoint on mages and magic. Merrill's willingness to use blood magic and Anders extremism really put me off the mages in DA2, while I liked both Morrigan and Wynnes perspectives on magic in Origins.

I heard a crazy theory that Vivienne might actually be Qunari. If so, her lifespan might be slightly longer than the average human lifespan.

I, too, wonder what Varric will call her. I love his nicknames.

I sorta like her look because it looks so different and distinctive (at least what we've seen of it). I will admit, though, that she reminds me of Shak'Ti from Star Wars. http://images1.wikia..._Ti_closeup.jpg

She actually reminds me of Sheala de Tancarville from TW2.

Morrigan was against the circles, Vivienne and Wynne are a pro-circle mages, how do you like both of their perspectives?

I know. I made that banner, and with that in mind:
