How many times computers can I install mass effect 2 on. I would like to know cause I might be getting a new one later and may want to play it on that one when I get it but for now I'm going to use the one I have right now
There are no install limits on the DVD version.
The EA store online version contains a 5x install limit because.. I don't know, they had an evil quota they needed to address? Because they could? Just to watch people twitch under their thumb?

intel core 2 duo 2.00ghz
2gb ram
geforce g105m
and since its a laptop, will it run any less smoother than a desktop?
i could play ME1 on high settings quite smoothly, with a few jitters when there's too much smoke or explosions on screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys

I don't really understand how video card requirments work.. (I'm horrible with computers). I played the first ME on my PC with graphics on the highest settings( no AA) however im unsure if ill be able to run ME2. I have 6 gb ram and quad core q9550 2.83 ghz which im sure are both good enough however im running a Radeon HD 3600 series (the 256MB one). Would the game be unplayable using this card? I dont mind playing with atleast medium graphics.
The GPU is probably an HD3650 - which should be fine for medium settings(the rest would allow the game to run at very high with a better video card).

The card may work at low settings, but it is below official minimum requirements.
I would heavily suggest waiting to see how it performs on other systems with an geforce g105m or 9300m g(of which it is basically a higher clocked version)

If you've had a good time playing ME1 with your current computer / setup / machine / whatever-you're-going-to-call-it, you can pretty much count on being able to play ME2 at the same quality as well.
I would like everyone to stop counting on can-i-run-it and other flawed benchmarking systems. The only way to test if you can run ME2 is, of course, by running it.
The minimum system requirements for ME2 is posted at the beginning of this thread - There does seem to be some confusion regarding certain graphics cards and CPUs however. I'll try to clarify these below.
CPU / PROCESSOR:
Dual Core - 1.8 Ghz.
- As such, we cannot tell you whether or not ME2 will be able to run on a single-core processor, even if the specified clock of said processor is higher (a 3.4 Ghz Pentium 4 CPU might not be able to run the game). It is POSSIBLE, but not probable.
GRAPHICS:
256 MB - The graphics card must support 3.0 Pixel Shading
- This is where total confusion sets in. Some low-level cards are made to theoretically support such features as 3.0 Shading. However, they are also made to be "LOW-LEVEL", which means that their general speed and quality prevents the actual support of said features.
It's sort of like how an eagle-egg is still an eagle. It cannot possibly fly, but it is related to something that can.
As is stated in the minimum requirements, the following graphics cards are not supported: NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9200, and 9300 / ATI Radeon HD 2400, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, and HD4350. This, of course, includes their variations (pro, xl, gt, whatever).
As such, a GeForce 7600 GT or a Radeon HD 3580 may be able to run the game (as it is supported), but it will not be the best thing ever to appear on screen.
If there are any questions regarding specific graphics cards or processors, please don't hesitate to post them - I hope, however, that this overview prevents too many repetitions.
- As a final note, I run ME2 on astonishing quality and framerate with a slightly sub-spec CPU (E6600). This was achieved through overclocking, which should not be tampered with unless you know how. Please note that various overclocking methods may give you a performance boost in addition to your standard specifications. This has CPU/GPU/RAM-frying potential, however.
ALSO - Per definition, laptop equivalents of desktop graphics cards (i.e. 8600 GT vs. 8600 GO/Mobile) are always of a lower spec. Expect lower quality and/or framerates from laptops in general.

Thank you, and im fairly certain it is a 3650. I'll be buying this game tonight loved the first one.Yenkaz wrote...

My specs:
I have a dual core processor 4050 at 2.1ghz.
i Have 2gb of ddr2 ram.
I have a 512mb Diamond Ati radeon 4350 HD
I have never played any of the Mass Effect games. I really want to buy ME1, but unfortunately i also want to buy 2 after. But will my specs be able to run ME2 or ME1 at all? Thanks
PS: i wont need to run it on high or anything. Probably low resolution at settings so it wont look horrible. Low-medium.

Please review the minimum requirements. You pass in terms of CPU and RAM, but your HD4350 is not supported by BioWare.
As my previous post said: If you don't pass minimum requirements, you shouldn't count on it. You may give it a go - But noone expects it to work.

http://cyri.systemre...test/intro.aspx
I went to it and had it test my system for ME2.
I was pass both min & max requirements to be able to play ME2.
Still suck the hole game is lagging though, but i find it kinda odd that the loading screens work fine but everything else is lagging like crap! sad day!

If you had read this thread, for instance, you would've seen plenty of statements about such sites and their reliability. What are you system specs? This may be a driver / setup issue.

That is not neccesarily relevant for your problem. Driver updates may be the actual issue, your hardware may be faulty, or your setup may be, in some other way, incompatible.
If you would please post your system specifications (Graphics card, audio card/system, MB, CPU, RAM, operating system, possibly a DXdiag, etc.), I would be much better suited to try and troubleshoot your problem.
Without that information, all I can tell you is to try and run ME2 with AA and AF off, as well as lowest possible detail level. Resolution tends to be a major issue. If that runs smoothly, it's just a matter of adjusting the graphics detail level until it begins "chopping". That will then be the detail level that your are able to run the game with.
@Gorath - I get your frustration

That is *NOT* a satisfactory answer. Obviously, then, you do not care particularly to solve your problem. Pity for you.
Gorath if you dont have something good to say dont say crap! <_<

As for you JW here are my spec.
Also on another note ive played games that req more specs than ME2.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+
3.0 GB Ram
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Build Service Pack 32600)
GeForce 9800 GT (Vid Ram 512mb, Hardware T&L "Yes", Pixel Shader Version "3.0", Vertex Shader Version "3.0")
Hard Drive 500 GB
Also I wouldnt have bought the game if I knew it wasnt going to work!
I always check the game req before buying any game!

Specs are met - I doubt this lagging you're experiencing is happening because of your graphics card or cpu. Instead, I'd like to know: Do you have a "High Definition Audio Device" (i.e. Realtek HD Audio or SiS Std, etc.?).
Certain onboard audio devices have been known to cause stuttering. I had the same experience with ME1.
The simple fix would be to disable any sorround / sound modulation effects you have enabled, turn down hardware acceleration of your sound (through DXdiag), and try again. This worked for me in ME1.
If this doesn't work, let's try and make a new thread - It will attract more troubleshooters that might know more than I do.

it seem that it worked at first but after like a 2 or so mins it started to lag again.
also before i had saw this thread i was posting in this one along with now over 100+ ppl.
