When I first played Mass Effect I had no idea which class I wanted and I took at least fifteen minutes reading them over before selecting adept.  I had no idea what the powers did and didn't know if the blue wind attack was doing any damage so I just used my gun most of the time.  When I bought the game for myself (first time a friend lent it to me) I decided to try engineer and I liked it better so I imported that file to ME2 and then I really loved it with overload, incinerate, cryo, and combat drone it was almost a wizard class.  My least favorie is soldier. It's a scifi game,  Why play with regular realistic weapons when you can have elemental powers?

Infiltrator is my favorite, and soldier is my least favorite. Inf because of invisibility and sniping abilities. Soldier being least because of a bland skill set compared to others.

Vanguard is my favourite. It's the sort of class I go for in a lot of the games. The close-up, fast, in your face DPS. Using speed, ferocity and sheer badassness to overwhelm your foes.

Engineer would probably be my least favourite as it's basically the antithesis of everything I just mentioned.

I like Vanguard the best, soldier the least. I <3 close combat, and this one lets me zoom right into the thick of it.

Favorite? Caster Vanguard in ME3. I won't lie, it turns Insanity into a complete joke but it was so much fun that I didn't even care.

Least favorite? Soldier. Too much focus on shooting and not enough focus on using powers (besides AR zzzzz) for my liking.

Probably Vanguard- although I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for an infiltrator with a Black widow= head shots for dayzzzzzz.

Least favorite- engineer. Kinda boring to me.

Favourite: Infiltrator. I like my Sniper Rifles. At least from ME2 onwards I did :) I also liked the ability to cloak and use the Incinerate power in combination with a cryo-ammo loadout. Very Satisfying.

I am progressing a Vanguard Shep through ME1, as a first, and liking what I am seeing so far.

Favorite: Engineer or Inflitrator... Engineer because I like sending out a combat drone and a sentry turret to flank my enemies while I plug them from the front. And Inflitrator is just fun, camo/snipe.

Least Favorite: Sentinel... It's a combination of what other classes specialize in... I don't feel like its the best of both worlds. Plus I find it to be boring.

^ Ever try a Shotgun Sentinel? Strap a Piranha or Wraith and roll Overload/Warp/Reave as your power-trio. Enemies will cry. Harrier is another excellent choice if you prefer distances.

Anywho, I'm partial to Vanguard. With Inferno Grenades and Nova, red and blue explosions never looked better. My fancy for CQC makes the Vanguard a match made in heaven. Winfiltrator is likely a close second because I like to headcanon the enemies shouting "WHO KEEPS SHOOTING US?!" or "WHERE THE HELL IS SHE?!" :D

Hard to say, but the Soldier in ME3 seems somewhat... dull. I use to adore Adrenaline Rush in ME2, however it seems underwhelming making the transition. Engineer I am iffy on, although I would like to give it a proper run through prefer I make any final.

Soldier was my favorite for a long time, before I finally put some effort into trying the Engineer in ME2. I got hooked and in ME3 it got even better. Handles any defense type, great combo potential, functions best at mid-range where I prefer to play.

Least favorite is Vanguard. I'm not good at close combat, I guess I just don't have the reflexes for it.

Adept is amazing imo. Engineer is fun as well.

Can't stand Soldier class. It's so ~boring compared to the Adept and biotics in general.

Soldier is least favourite by far - the main challenge becomes not running out of ammo.

I actually default Shep (Earth/SS/Soldier). ME3 is an improvement though, because the guns distinguish themselves from each other better. Rather than saying it's a one trick pony with an Assault Rifle, it's a very diverse class. Other than that, Infiltrator might be an equal favorite (I like mixing pistols and rifles though. This is my Spectre/James Bond Operative type).

Least, I guess, is Engineer, but I wouldn't really know -- never actually played one.

My personal favourites are Engineer and - believe it or not - the Soldier.

Least favourite would be the Sentinel. The power selection just isn't my cup of tea.

(edit: throughout the three games):

It's been all of them except for Soldier, that I only tried twice and it was not appealing to me…and unfortunately not much Infiltrator (since I'm just horrible with sniper rifles LOL but then again I could try it with ME3, with Assault rifle, if I find ME3 worth playing a whole playthrough again…)

I do favor those with biotic skills plus engineer, since -to me- they are more fun, have powers (like the Soldier lack).

I'm pretty standard, my favorites are Infiltrator and Vanguard, my least favorites are Soldier and Sentinel. I have a warm spot in my heart for the Engineer class as well.

Infilitrator is great because of the cloak. I love using the Raptor as a primary and the Talon as a secondary, very flexible and fun. Vanguards are just pure win for their chaotic crazy combat, especially if you take Lash as your special power. I enjoy taking the 'charging' shotguns like the GPS or the Krogan one. If you time it right you can shoot a burst and follow it in with the charge hitting a split second later, then give them another blast from the shotgun as they stumble, looks awesome and works fantastic. With Infiltrators I take AP ammo, as their base active skills are enough, though Energy Drain works good as well if you are playing more of an agent than a sniper.

Soldiers are just boring, the Rush ability puts me to sleep with it's blandness. Sentinels have a great skill set, but I hate the look of the holo-armor. They're just not as fun to play as Vanguards.

The Engineer is my alternate if I don't feel like rolling an Infiltrator or Vanguard. The battle management skills are fun with the drones, pair it up with a Mattock and I'm golden.

I like Sentinel, because it's a very well balanced set and pretty tanky in all situations. I also like the Adept and the Vanguard as well. For the Adept, I didn't really have to use my guns too much, but the Singularity is still lame unlike the buffed one in Multiplayer. I really don't like the Soldier class, it's too boring and the only powers are adrenaline rush, frag grenades, and concussive shot, The rest are ammo powers which aren't useful when out of ammo.

Soldier, it ties with Inf for Best class.

Hate the engineer, tech isn't as prudy as Biotic explosians and Soldier is king of FEs.

My favorite is a tie between Infiltrator and Adept. Great fun with guns and decent powers on the infiltrator, and so many explosions on the adept, plus biotics are basically "the force" IN SPACE (ok, that expression is not really relevant in this situation, but you get the idea).

My least favorite is the Sentinel. Not as much fun as the specialty classes, and the tech armor is too boring for me.

My favourite class is the Infiltrator.
Ever since the first game it's my canon - I like stealth, I like marksmanship.

Second favourite would be anything supporting. It's a nice change of pace sometimes, working for your team instead of against the enemy.

My least favourite classes would be anything "direct", such as the Soldier or the Vanguard. I'm just not built for that style of combat. I can keep my calm and aim over a roaring battlefield from a distance, but I get too jumpy to accomplish anything useful in the eye of the storm.

Adept
Engineer
Vanguard
Infiltrator
Sentinel
Soldier

I play power classes best, and with both Adept and Engineer, I never needed a gun.

My favourite is Soldier (seem to be in the minority here), not for it's skills but for the idea of it. A biotic has the ability to manipulate gravity and dark matter. They can fling objects like rag dolls and tear things apart with their mind. Yet my Shepard achieves the exact same as a biotic Shepard without this cosmic power. My Shepard achieves it with grit, his own physical strength and a REALLY big gun.

A class I've toyed with playing is Infiltrator. The idea of my Shepard being some bad ass Black Ops guy who you wouldn't want to be left alone in a room with. But if we're talking strictly abilities? I hate the feel of the more 'wizard' classes like Adept and Engineer. It doesn't appeal to me. Vanguard sounds like it could be interesting, but apparently makes the game far too easy.

My first Shepard was an Infiltrator, and good thing because I LOVE me some sniper rifles and almost all of my subsequent Shepards have grabbed an SR as soon as they could. That being said, I prefer to be a caster with an SR, so from favorite to least:

Engineer
Adept
Sentinel
Infiltrator
Vanguard
Soldier
