So, how exactly does one slide around a corner? During the beginning the game gives tips on how these things are accomplished, but for some reason only tells me "move to the edge and press ( ) to slide around corner". The parentheses are empty.

What platform are you on? If PC it sounds like your keybind was deleted and you just need to go into the menu and assign a new one. There is supposed to be a button to press so Shep will do the corner turn. I have no idea about consoles though sorry.

Sorry, should have said. I'm on the PC. Checked key-bindings under options and sure enough Cover Turn (if that is the correct one) has nothing assigned to it.
Tried Reset to Defaults, but no go there. What does it look like on every one else's setup?

Um for mine I use one of my mouse thumb buttons. But yeah just assign whatever key you want to it. Honestly in the campaign I think I used that action like. . .three times maybe? Shepard is so agile in ME3 its not a huge deal to need. So just pick a button you can reach but no need to take up a prime spot.

Apparently it was the Middle Mouse Button. I probably changed it the last time I played about a year ago. Since it also changes Shep's equipped weapon I can see that causing some problems. Funny the Reset didn't work though.
Thanks for the help.

Just use a combat roll to get into the space you want to get and immediately hit the cover button.
