Well, it was never official stated that a warden would be our companion, it could be Shroud or it could be someone completely different. When the idea was brought up it was a tease or a joke. Also it is hard to tell when we would get this warden as are companion. If I was just starting the game as the Inquisitor why would a high level warden want to join me. Or it could be the other way around for all I know.

If we were to get a Grey Warden companion (which would be really useful as it looks like the Darkspawns are still about), I would prefer it to be someone we've never met before. Especially since they've had a chance to build up their ranks.
(and so they can talk about my warden, Alistair and Carver
so I know how they are getting on)

Assuming that concept art is of a Warden companion, it is possible it could be Stroud. The hair is a bit longer and appears to have streaks of gray, and the character in the concept art has a full beard, but its certainly possible that Stroud could have aged, and grown longer hair and a beard by the start of DA:I. Both Stroud and the pictured Warden do appear to have rugged faces.
Of course none of that means it actually is Stroud. But it is an interesting possibility.

I'm hoping he is sort of a mix of Duncan and Wynne A Senior Warden from the Anderfels, but with a mentoring/fatherly demeanor. I'd hope for the new characters to outnumber the old though. A returning major companion like Varric is enough for me.

Do note that we're already traveling with the Hero of Orlais, a member ofbthe Champion of Kirkwall's retinue and the woman in line to take leadership of one of the biggest circles in Thedas.

I think it would be great if it was a new character, and not a Warden, but if it is, I will be cool.
If it is not, I will be glad (some of the Origins cut content involved our companions having to become wardens due to darkspawn war thingy).

Keith I mean Warden recruit from the Vigil during the time post DAA but pre-Warden-Houdini act. So he can share some storys from our Wardens/DAA companions. By DAI time the recruit could be a high ranking member
